Still not giving up on Andy. I want to see what he can do if he gets in shape and learns to close the distance, especially cause he's short for a heavyweight. Not saying that he's as good as Joshua, Wilder, etc.—that remains to be seen—but if he can get in shape, it will be interesting at the very least.
I feel sad for Ruiz. He threw it all away!

Good luck on that. The fact that the guy pulls off stuff like this on the biggest night of his life tells a lot about where his career is heading. The guy is short for a heavyweight (not by much 6ft 2) but he's got fast hands, good reflexes and good chin. Imagine if he was 235 pounds, his legs will be quicker and him closing the distance will be less of an issue, it will be similar to the way Canelo closes distance. The guy loves food you can tell just by looking at his face but to think no one on his team could curb the burritos and quesadillas is just shameful. He very well could have blown his only chance to ever come close to fighting for a title again. Worse is he just seem happy to be there to collect his checkComment

Can’t feel sorry for him.
He had 6 months to prepare and obviously didn’t. It wasn’t like the rematch was sprung on him at the last minute. He’s known since June he was going to have to take the rematch.
No problem with him enjoying himself, but do it with the rematch in the back of your mind and get back into training when the trainer asks you to.
You don’t mind Ruiz losing if he prepared and just got outboxed by AJ, that happens, but at least give yourself half a chance and train.
As i’ve said before, you can be as talented as you want, even as talented as Floyd. If you’re out eating pizza’s for months while you’re opponent is grafting in the gym every day, what do you think will happen? - There’s a reason why Floyd and people like that always trained like they’re poor, even with significant talent advantages over some opponents.Comment

True. I said the same last night. If he can’t be motivated to train for his biggest payday and biggest fight of his life, does anyone really expect him to get in shape to fight Adam Kowancki or someone for a fraction of the money in a much smaller fight?
No chance in hell. The guy is a slob and is dedicated more to a disgusting diet than boxing.Comment

Exactly. I'm still wondering why only few have mentioned this. Even after the 1st fight, I thought Joshua had the tools to beat Ruiz and he should have really. He just f.uc.ked up and went for the kill when he scored the 1st knockdown. He got caught, hurt and everything went downhill from there. Ruiz is a tough dude. He's a better toe-to-toe fighter, durable, and can fire back even when he gets hit. But that's just it. AJ is still a more well-rounded fighter and, yes, a better-skilled boxer. I remember people laughing when I mentioned that.I was just stating that that was what team Ruiz or ruiz himself claimed to be the case prefight. That they were going for power and KO and that they prepared really well.
People definitely bought it. In the early stages of promotion where slimmed Andy pics were being scattered around. People be like “Oh no it’s bad for ya” And all. “Don’t fix what ain’t broke”. And with roach saying andy is better fat than not, and that’s his former coach.
It’s amazing how it could change after the fight..
“Oh you didn’t prepare well.”
I say fat or not, Aj executed a good strategy that be tough not just for ruiz but for everyone albeit being boring in many casuals eyes.
Floyd use the same thing his entire career.. potshot box tie up wash rinse and repeat.
But I cannot accept that it is more of ruiz being fat or underprepared that Aj won in that manner.
I saw his prefight training vids, interviews. And all and he prepared well for this fight..
But now, that is made to be a very fitting excuse.. Cmon he was already fat the first time
Aj would have won the first one had he fought the same way. Against a 260 plus ruiz.
I was rooting for ruiz.. but he just couldn’t do anything about that kinda style.. it’s not in his arsenal to counter that.
Even duran, didn’t want none when sugar ray started to bike around.
He should’ve ask for joshua to fight him, right from the start. Not 15 seconds to the final bell lolComment
