Andy Ruiz, this generation's Buster Douglas?

If you think about it, there are a lot of similarities. Both beat the champion in a huge upset, both lost in their first defense, and both came in fat for their defense.

Buster Douglas beat Trevor Berbick and Oliver McCall in addition to Tyson.

Ruiz's second best win is freaking Dimitrenko.

Sadly yes. Both very good boxers missing their potential due to a lack of professionalism.

Both had that criticism earlier in their career. The opponents they lost to were both model professionals throughout their career.

      Leopards don't change spots.

AJ is not as good as Tyson was and Ruiz is not as good as Douglas was.

Ruiz' career is in mid-career...too early to judge him. Plus, Douglas got KTFO by Holyfield; Ruiz just got outboxed.
I personally don't see him being top 10 for very long, but he will continue to fight top guys.

Douglas also continued after Holyfield, winning most of his fights against lower level competition.

No, not really. Ruiz, though heavier, was not a whole lot different. Joshua was the one who made the big change.

You don't think Holyfield was a perfect professional?

Did he ever arrive out of shape or unprepared?

Holyfield was always in perfect shape.
