I mean it did have the worst undercard of all time

wilder will want more than 20 million. fury will want at least as much as wilder so...that means they are going to have to do 600k-700k plus to break even on that one...maybe?275k is a good number against Ortiz but shows FOX massively overpayed. They clearly saw an opportunity to take Deontay from Showtime and probably knew the fighters' purses would be less than total PPV revenue generated. Not sure what happens with the Fury rematch though, will FOX sign up for another huge guarantee after this?Comment

business expert over here! so even though they clearly lost millions and millons of dollars it belonged on ppv? thought the purpose of ppv was to make money? oh but dont worry at least far less people had the ability to see it as opposed to being on showtime or fox. 275 is about 15 percent of the amount of viewers that some other wilder fights have gotten but its a good thing to have less people see your fights? thats going to help in the future how? if people don't see a guy fight that is good how? if you dont make money that is good how? explain your ****** comments now!The majority of posters here have far less than half a brain. Fury being responsible for all the buys was spouted here day in and day out for the last year. Clearly that's been proven untrue now.
If it sold over 275,000 buys, it belonged on PPV.
I agree the first fight was a clear win, but the UK trolls insisted Wilder was given unfair advantages and that the win was stolen from Ortiz. Hence the rematch. Wilder emphatically cleared any dispute. The trolls will come up with a new complaint soon.Comment

Agreed. I'm a Wilder fan but I'm not buying Wilder-Ortiz 2 for $75. After Nery-Manny got canceled, it wasn't much of an undercard. I can't stand watching LSC mismatch borefests these days.I don't get the narrative some push here.
I'm a Wilder fan but I didn't buy this fight and found a stream. I buy good fights but who in their right mind thought this was worth the money?
The undercard was atrocious and Wilder vs Ortiz was a fight we didn't have to pay for the first time around when Ortiz was a year and a half younger. This fight was a complete scam at 75 bucks.
It has nothing to do with Wilder not being able to sell PPVs and with the horrible matchup.
You want people to buy these fight than make good fights. I'm not paying 75-80 to watch one good fighter fight a scrub. I wouldn't pay that to watch Joshua Ruiz 2 either.
Those prices should be reserved for super fights only.
PBC knew this was a money-losing fight given the guarantees. Those were strategic overpays to keep Wilder in-house and prevent Ortiz from fighting AJ in June.
275k isn't bad all things considered. Wilder-Fury 2 (if it actually goes off) would definitely do 500k+ and I wouldn't be surprised to see 700k.Comment

and how much will wilder and fury want to be paid for that fight? remember wilder needs 60 million in his next fight to match what he was offered from dazn. no way he gets that but 30-40? and is fury going to accept less than wilder? we are talking 50 million or mor just for purses for them. do the math and they need a million buys or so. maybe more depending on the purses. haymon created a monster. a money losing monster that is eating himAgreed. they probably spend millions on advertising but no one ever counts that of course lol. ITS ALL PROFIT! this is exactly why arum didnt give floyd crazy guarantees when he was selling 300-400k ppvs. most guys don't pan out to be huge stars. if floyd didnt turn into a big star top rank would have been done. even if floyd did turn into a big star those are just the guarantees. he still would have been paid if he did huge ppv numbers. the guarantee is just if the ppv fails which wilders ppv's are and haymon has no out it seems. even golden boy when they had floyd under control only gave floyd half of what he demanded when he was with top rank. no one would be that ******. oh wait here is haymon to give a guy with no ppv success an even bigger guarantee than floyd!Comment
