I guess it's one of those things where only time will tell, but regardless if whether it was misguided or not DAZN clearly did go in with the intent of establishing themselves as a key player from the get go.
Honestly I wouldn't pretend to have any particularly great knowledge of streaming services in the US beyond the information I get from on this forum, but the impression I did gain from the talk on here is that the streaming services were little used up unitil fairly recently, possibly more as a catchup, but very much playing second fiddle to traditional cable services for live events, kinda an optional extra.
Way I'm seeing it we're seeing a shift towards streaming becoming the main source of content globally and there's probaly gonna be a bit of a scramble to divide up the pie over the next few years... now I've no idea who will come out on top either in the US or as a global supplier, but it's possible that being a specialist in streamed content instead of being a traditional cable distributor that's doing streaming as a bolt on extra will be an advantage. Whether it's enough of an advantage to force a market share against the huge resources and consumer loyalty (or inerta) held by the current networks, only time will tell I think.
