    Pbc + dazn

Can someone explain to me why fans are happy to play along with the broadcastor/promoter war?

Instead of always talking **** about one of them shouldn't we be pushing for PBC to be on DAZN there by giving us all the best names in boxing on an affordable platform? TR and ESPN would have to follow shortly I'd imagine. DAZN would become the streaming front for all the boxing channels.

ESPN, Fox, Showtime, they can still charge their 75 bucks a PPV for old'uns who won't stream. For us internet folk we ought to get the same fights cheaper as per the cheaper cost of streaming vs cable distribution.

I've not been able to work this into a convo so I made a thread. Not trying to start another PBC vs DAZN war, I really want to push the other direction.

Haymon, Hearn, De La Hoya, on one platform, for 20 bucks a month....goddamn steal. Warren/Arum would be coming along shortly and then who's left? Duva and Rybinski and such? They're types who tag onto bigger shows any damn way.

Anyway, one of y'all who stays on top of the broadcastor/promoter news explain this **** to me. Why can't PBC be on DAZN?

PBC's TV rights don't become available for a few years. When their rights become available, if DAZN still exists, maybe DAZN will be interested.

But for right now, Fox has first dibs on PBC's stars and Showtime has second dibs. DAZN isn't an option right now.

Can you elaborate on it a bit?

I'm pretty confused now because I thought PBC wasn't tied down to a single distributor, that's why they're on Showtime and Fox... I thought.

They have a contract with both? Did Fox buy some share of Showtime's contract from them?

Did they have a contract when Wilder was on Showtime exclusively or was that just coincidence?

Why can Fox get Wilder but not DAZN or ESPN?

Edit- I should say, I'm just using Wilder as a vehicle because it's through Wilder news I hear the most about Showtime, Fox, PBC, and DAZN. If you've non Wilder examples that explain the situation don't be bothered with my Wilder-centric questions.

They have a contract to provide X amount of shows for Fox and Showtime. No exclusivity deal.

So they can potentially be on DAZN or ESPN as well?

Seems to me the PBC would do best to get their show on every channel/platform.

            This is my hot take.

Every other sports team in the world plays more then boxers fight.

Your favorite English Premier League team will play 38 games in a season
Your favorite NFL team plays 16 games a season
Your favorite NBA and NHL teams both has 82 games in their season
Your favorite boxer will fight 1-3 times a year

Fans of the first three(four) sports are spoiled by the number of games and conversations they can have about their favorite team each time they play. A boxing fan may only watch their favorite boxer fight once or twice a year so there isn't as much opportunity to converse about boxing matches with other boxing fans as soccer fans can talk about soccer matches with each other. I think boxing fans have a 'fandom void' caused by the small number of fights a year and in order to fill that void they end up talking and taking sides with network and promoter wars.

Its the same bull***** that has people here taking turns *****ting on different fighters. So and so wants to fight this other guy but this other guy don't want to fight so and so because so and so hasn't fought anyone but so and so didn't fight anyone because guys like this other guy choose not to fight him. Somehow everyone is ok with that logic when we should all be like f u c k off the best should fight the best and that's f u cking it.

I promised Deontay Wilder would become the #1 heavyweight in the world and that I'd return once he had.

When he reached #1 on Boxrec, I signed back into the site.

So you will disappear again when the Joshua-Ruiz winner is bumped to #1 in a couple of weeks?
