Because Fury is the real deal with the heart of a lion.
It does beg the question: WHY could Wilder not KO Fury?

This isn't true. "Trigger refs" would, like what happened to Horn against Crawford.Because he wasn't able to land cleanly on Fury. It's pretty difficult to KO someone when you can't land on them with any consistency. Pretty much the only time he did land Fury went down hard and most refs would have waved the fight off.
Wilders right hand is the hardest punch in boxing history. Time and time again he's able to get out boxed and then get a one punch KO.
But it's not like Fury was slumped like Stiverne. Once again, his eyes were squarely on the ref - and it's the eyes that tell refs what to do.
After Khan was stunned by Danny Garcia, his eyes were glazed over even after responding to Kenny Bayless, so it was waved off.
You could make a case that Judah shouldn't have been stopped by Nady against Tszyu because outside of the Bambi moment he was lucid and clear eyed. Yet Nady did a VERY good job stopping Jones against Tarver.Comment

I’m still amazed Fury beat the count from that knockdown, or even managed to get back up at all.Comment

Because no two punches are the same and different fighters react differently on the same shot. Some people have the ability to take a shot and not feel dizzy while others would get buzzed on even an average punch.
You can train your muscles and get in good shape and condition but how you react can only change so much.Comment

Wilder was 215 for Ortiz 1, but 209 against Fury, his body was wasting away, every pound at that point was huge for a man his size.Comment

Fury is a freak of nature who is very hard to time with the amount of defensive skill and awkwardness he brings to the ring. This isn't your typical HW even in the era of huge HWs. Both Wilder and Fury are anomalies.Comment

Which begs also the question of why Otto Wallin was able to give him problems when Wilder couldn't.Comment

Fury has motivation issues and hes the type of fighter that needs to come prepared 100% of the time but he doesn't as his ego gets in the way and he loses concentration. Hes his own worse enemy and fights down to the level of his competition. He could of made the Wilder fight easier too but he didn't. At times it looked like he wasn't concentrating.Comment

You might be right - but again, such a lack of motivation and concentration from Fury should have basically guaranteed Wilder a KO.Fury has motivation issues and hes the type of fighter that needs to come prepared 100% of the time but he doesn't as his ego gets in the way and he loses concentration. Hes his own worse enemy and fights down to the level of his competition. He could of made the Wilder fight easier too but he didn't. At times it looked like he wasn't concentrating.Comment
