Boxing purses are at an all time high... why is that upsetting?

Boxing purses are at an all-time high. I say great! But for some reason, I seem to be in the minority.

It seems the majority of posters on this message board are upset that boxers are getting paid.

Examples: Ortiz’s purse for the Wilder rematch, Wilder’s purses for his last two fights, Derevyanchenko’s purse for the GGG fight, Jacobs’ purse for the Canelo fight, GGG’s recent purses, negotiations for the Ruiz-Joshua rematch and negotiations for a potential Davis-Farmer fight. I’m sure there are more examples I’m forgetting.

Does anyone want to share why they’re upset by the higher purses or share any theories about why they think people are upset?

    TIA.

To be honest, I really don't give a eff you cee Kay.

The purses will be even higher if we got the fights we want to see. People need to stop jerking off to a fighters pay and talking about it like some female talk show host.

I'd much more prefer to talk about a legendary fight Sunday morning, than a fighters pay for months or sometimes years at a time. Just sayin

Only DAZN fighters and their opponents.

You keep including Ortiz and Wilder. They're not included.

Yeah, I don't think networks who carried boxing in a traditional manner for many years can keep up with DAZN's spending binge.

True. Espinoza wasn't even able to carry Wilder-Ortiz 2.

            Espinoza:
"With money freed up that would’ve gone to marketing, production and other costs involved in distributing a Wilder-Ortiz rematch, Showtime will now offer an additional “Showtime Championship Boxing” broadcast before the end of what has been a challenging 2019 for the network."

Stephen Espinoza expects the Deontay Wilder-Luis Ortiz rematch to be entertaining. Ultimately, however, Showtime’s president of sports and event programming decided distributing it would’ve required a financial commitment he wasn’t comfortable making. FOX Sports will distribute the second bout between Wilder and Ortiz, who was knocked out in the 10th round of their fight for Wilder’s WBC heavyweight title in March 2018.

DAZN, in my opinion, has thrown a wrench in there and overpaid a bunch of guys.....but thats what happens when a new entry comes around...they have to throw around money to look like "real players"....remember when roc nation came in and they were throwing big money around to cotto, ward etc?

it comes with the territory.....and theyve driven wilder and ortizs money up too

eventually there will be a market correction at some point

Idk that most mfers care about the money per se.

If most mfers care anything the money flow it's about mfers getting paid big money while the fights fans wanna see still not happening as often as they want them too.

                  It's not across the board.

Arum tried it on ESPN overpaying Khan and TC. He's still trying to recover the loses.
