Boxing purses are at an all time high... why is that upsetting?

They are not worth the money nobody wants to see a boring 12 round fight but a real drag out knockdowns on either side and spilling their blood. When you dont see that and they get paid millions nah i wont support a ppv apart from joshua vs ruiz that is worth itComment

But that's not the same thing is it?
Dis*****g whether the reports are accurate that he's earning more than $7M isn't the same as being upset that he's earning more than $7M. You understand that right?
Which makes this thread bollocks.
Nice one.Comment

Happy for the fighters but theres got to be a slight worry that if fighters are getting paid well for taking easier fights we could see less of the best fighting the best. Thus is why you see a class fighter like gary russell jr fighting once a year.Comment

Oh so this is the basis of this thread
... I was thinking i haven't seen anyone that is "Upset" lol.
Yeah i don't believe Ortiz is earning 7m too. The economic just doesn't fit the whole card, the source doesn't have a source too.
I believe the source (Coppinger) put that out in good faith but he probably was mislead, and i believe they told him what they want him to relay out there.Comment

I can't speak for everyone, and I'm not upset at fighters making good money. I'm very happy for them and wish nothing but more money flow for the sport of boxing.
Having said that, I think what might be upsetting people is the fact that money might be thrown around to keep fighters under another entity's agenda that can hamper the best fights being made. For example, some people view DAZN throwing money at fighters as a way to interrupt PBC's plan to monopolize boxing and create their own belt. Others might see PBC as overpaying fighters to keep them within the PBC while at the same time avoiding other fighters/titles i.e. the WBO, and with Top Rank/ESPN it can easily be interpreted as them trying to get their share of fighters to have inhouse fights and really only match their fighters as it favors them and not the sport.
Just my two cents, I really like fighters getting paid well, but I could understand the frustration of some fans if it's coming at the expense of the best fights not happening, because then it looks like a bubble that will eventually come crashing down as soon as the bigger player get (or don't get) their way.Comment
