Let’s be honest - Mike Tyson was overrated as fu.ck

This is for people who act like these old school boxers were just out there knocking out killers.

Mike Tyson didn’t really beat anyone and he got knocked out every time he stepped up. Holyfield’s resume was somewhat mediocre at HW as well.

    Not really

Tyson is off most top 10 heavies of all time lists Ive seen.

You want overrated go look at Marciano, where he is always rated vs his opposition level.

Really Tyson was overrated to an extent. He hurt himself by not dropping all those damn hanger on dudes when Cus passed away. Just not as overrated as you state. Holyfields resume is not mediocre dude. Compare their era to the era of these heavyweights. They would have Wilder on the florr in a ball. Fury would do the best. Joshua a little better than Bruno. Ruiz would be okay. Fury is a wild card in that era. Tell me who in this era could beat Lewis, Holyfield, Tyson, Bowe , even Ruddock consistently out of these fighters. Fury would have best shot because he is very slick.

Holyfield resume mediocre? Beat Bowe, Tyson, Qawi, Moorer, Mercer and is the only fighter in history to become undisputed champ at both cruiserweight and heavyweight. If that is mediocre then wtf are the heavyweights of today?

To be honest, Tyson is more often underrated than overrated. Tyson was phenomenal but he burned out before he could prove it to everyone's satisfaction.

I can honestly say that the likes of 20/21 year old Tyson was never seen before or since.

his style was fan friendly and aesthetic for those that appreciate the sweet science but I agree his career left much to be desired. I'm a big fan of Holmes and he's often only mentioned as a villain that young Mike crucified.

              Tyson is overrated. Huh.

A guy who blew Larry Holmes out cannot, by definition, be overrated. Just saying.

But if you're an 'eye test' sort...

Marciano was the Wilder of this generation, he’s irrelevant.

Tyson didn’t beat any of the elite boxers of his generation.

He lost to Bowe twice and most would argue he also lost to Lennox twice.

He only beat Tyson and Mercer. And Mercer wasn’t considered to be an elite boxer in that generation. He’s like the Dillian Whyte of this generation.

Take Tyson out and he didn’t beat anyone unless you want to count Bowe loss which is like Lennox’a loss to Rahman.
