Hooker vs. Ramirez or Joshua vs. Ruiz. Both fights were waaaaay more exciting.

The problem with Spence vs. Porter is that no one got hurt. Even in the KD, Porter never fell on the canvass. Not once was the fight even close to ending.
But Porter was hurt to the body and the head. You don't put your hand on the ground unless you slipped or were hurt. Porter didn't slip. He was hurt. Fight of the year is just opinion. You can't expect everyone to agree on which fight it was. Many good fights.

Fight of the year criteria is usually when two boxers matches each other and then go at it for a long duration. Spence and Porter had that.

I like Ruiz/Joshua so far as FOTY. Not only was the result a shock to most fans but despite what you think you saw, The official cards were very very close after 6. All the judges had it 57-56, one actually had Joshua winning. Ruiz needed that stoppage because he wasn't going to get the benefit of any doubt if it went to the cards.

Maybe I have to rewatch it. I just have a mental image of Hurd being on the canvas looking like his soul was taken.

The fight was fairly even until the last 2 rounds. The KD was the turning point. The last round sealed it for Spence. Porter fought hard until the last bell. This fight was similar to Hurd vs Lara.

This is a good choice for fight of the year.

It's definitely more satisfying have a PPV matchup actually produce a good fight. I didn't think that fight should have been PPV but at least it was good - I don't blame people for feeling up about it

Personally, it's a good feeling to have Spence as a face in boxing as his style will typically make for action in these higher profile fights.

FOTY for me - hard to separate the drama from the fights, so I'll have to go with AJ/Ruiz I guess. Thurman/Pac (another good PPV fight) would be 2nd
