I haven't met anyone that thought Canelo legitimately won either fight. GGG definitely won the first, the 2nd was closer but GGG edged it.

I said Trip G would win by late round KO's both fights. 100%. I own it. I was 100% wrong. And now I am saying something else:

Alvarez is right. He does not need a third fight with Golovkin, Golovkin needs that third fight with Alvarez. Alvarez calls the shots in his career, and until he decides otherwise, Golden Boy, Golovkin, and DAZN are out of luck.

Golovkin has several avenues he could go to prove he is still the fighter he wants to be perceived as. There are at least three big fights at 160, and he has one on tap right now. There are a whole new world of top fights to mine at 168. Win those, and 0-1-1 against Alvarez will not haunt him so bad.

Canelo did what he had to against Golovkin and Oscar did what he had to do to make sure that Canelo got the nod if it went 12. I actually think Canelo knows full well he got lucky, twice and doesnt want to push that luck.

Never about feelings, always about business... canelos has guaranteed money fighting and he wants to expand on his legacy... Kovalev gives him that ggg doesn’t. DAZN and Oscar probably have incentive to get the 3rd fight done so I understand both sides. I understand why DAZN wants it and Oscar wants it but I understand canelo too. We already saw who has more of a say so in who canelo fights... but, I bet if DAZN, Oscar, or anyone involved in team ggg make canelos an offer he can’t refuse, I’m sure he’d take the fight

Not trying to fan the flames, but....

I watched the first fight three times, with four different people. Everyone I watched with agreed Golovkin should have won. I watched the second one in a Fathom theater with about 100 of my closest friends (so much fun, I suggest anyone who can watch a fight that way go and do it), and while it was not a foregone conclusion, most of the people around me felt Canelo deserved the win. I got to know them really well because there was a huge wait between the undercards (all early KOs) and the main event. We had snuck in some bourbon and became very popular in that time. It should be 1-1. I think most level headed fans are good with that.

Side note... I have not meant anyone that has Alvarez atop their mythical P4P list.
