Nice post.Originally posted by Hitman932i feel exactly the same way as as diego
though its obvious floyd is the best i have gone from being a big fan to only having a passing interest in his career at this point. i dont really understand what hes doing but i dont really care either. either he will put up or shut up in the long run, and when he is done he will be judged. im not going to be any more impressed by his undefeated record than i am by nicloai valuev's (exaggeration) if he doesent start fighting the guys that he should be fighting.
I used to be a big fan of Mayweather Jr., just like I used to be a huge Jones Jr. fan. It seems to me that their respective careers are following a similar pattern, what with them taking on less than the best of opponents for an extended period of time. The anticipation of the fights they could have had with at least some of the top opponents ...
That's a major reason why Thomas Hearns is my favorite fighter of all time. He didn't win every time he stepped into the ring with some of the top opponents, but he surely did get into the square circle with them. Hearns brought that anticipation for me leading up to his fights, and the excitement during the actual fights.

Its fine if you want to say Floyd is ducking Margarito as that is definitely what could be going on. But if that is the case, then SRL not only ducked Pryor because they never fought but he ducked Hagler for years until Hagler was vulnerable. What do you call that? If Floyd makes a fight with Margarito down the road how is that any different that SRL and Hagler (and don't respond by listing other fights Leonard made, we are talking one opponent calling out another and getting no response). Is Shane ducking Floyd now or if the fight doesn't happen next year is Shane ducking? I would say no to all of these questions. A duck or avoid is like what happened with Joe Calzaghe and RJJ or Darius M. and RJJ because they never fought and never will. That is the definition of a duck. You don't have to like Floyd or his career management or style but call it like it is.Comment

I agree with you to an extent. Floyd is definitely not fighting the top fighters at 140 or 147, but Gatti, Mitchell, and Judah read like a murderers row compared to the garbagemen RJJ fought. Yes there was a lack of competition at LHW but he could have fought Joe Calzaghe or Bernard (again) or Darius M. but he never did.Originally posted by KelenekiNice post.

Sugar ray didnt fight Hagler till he wanted to, timing is everything in boxing, the competitive mega fights never just happened, over time they had to be fought. If margarito is really greatness, eventually they will have to fight. Floyd is da man, he has earned that right to decide when and what competitive contender he fights 1st. when I didnt get a job I wanted, I went and did what I had to do to make sure next time I got that job. margarito needs to do the same and not fighta Cosme rivera in Dec.Comment

he give plenty of quality fights, it just non-congratulators like yourself will downplay the win like Gatti, like corrales, and like Zab.
Gatti had a puncher's chance before the fight, after the fight he was overrated. Corrales knocking everybody out and he is big and tall, 6 ko later, Corrales wasnt himself. Zab will be the first to test Floyd, floyd never fought no one faster and stonger than him, a low blow later, Zab wasnt even the real champ, he shouldnt of had the IBF belt anyways. After margarito loses to Floyd, he'll be overrated too and blah blah blah!Comment
