Did you not notice that HBO was out of the boxing game within a month of the Canelo/GGG rematch? Its hard to believe that anyone would think a network that would pull out ALL INVESTMENT in the sport within 5 months of the fight date in question would actually believe HBO would have added more money into the pot.
I choose not to make multiple assumptions to come to a conclusion. Seems like the GGG decision after Canelo was suspended requires multilayered assumptions to conclude that he COULDN'T fight a better opponent that summer. I just judge what did and didn't happen.
They didn't even try. The silence on the line when Andrade BJS and Dervy all raised their hands says they were only interested in soft touches to get a fight in before Canelo in September. Smart decision but we can't sit back and use rumor or a negotiation that was close by all reports when the IBF stripped Alvarez as a reason for Team GGG to not even offer Dervy the moment Alvarez was suspended.

Negotiations didn't break down though. The IBF stripped Alvarez. Just because he turned down the initial offer doesn't mean he is automatically difficult to negotiate with.

I made a mistake in my post apparently Derevyanchenko was offered 5.5 Million dollars to fight Canelo not 5 million.
the problem is, it's pretty well been proven that dazn can't force canelo's hand in terms of opposition. canelo was willing to give up his Mexican fight date and drop a belt in order to avoid the fights dazn wanted. he also said if the fans wanted a 3rd fight, which they overwhelmingly do, there'd be a 3rd fight...which he has obviously decided against. there's nothing that can force the diva into the ring unfortunately.
