You guys fall for this ****? Kathy Duva said in an interview a month ago that Gomez asked her about a catchweight and she said there's no way. They already asked. GBP anyway, on behalf of Canelo. Team Kovalev said no.

This should be a lesson how Team Canelo is all about press and lying to their fans. This is basically a lie to make Canelo look good to the fans. Kathy Duva confirms she was asked, by Gomez himself, a month ago. Now Gomez is the one coming out with this bull****. Unbelievable.

This is why that stoppage was disgraceful. Kov got hit with lowblows repeatedly and the ref jumped in and stopped it. Talking about that right hand from 40% KO Ward finished him lmfao. He didn't even go down. Kov just took flush shots repeatedly from a young guy with over a 90% KO ratio...didn't go down and came back to dominate and stop his opponent. Finally this narrative dies
      Agreed for sure

I believe Kovi does not recover well and an experienced fighter like Ward would of got him out no matter what
Beliefs don't win fights. Kovalev deserved a chance to recover from the blatant foul when Ward got frustrated from Kovalev blocking his body shots with crap defense and threw an uppercut to his balls, and then he deserved a chance to win or lose on his own talent and heart, not on what you believe.

        • Good win for Kovalev against a fairly tough challenger. He didn't deserve #1 ranking with no more of a record than he had, but he did ok until he gassed. Sergey has proven he isn't finished just yet, and he will do well vs Canelo, even though I think he loses via SD or UD.

Yarde was head hunting and kept throwing the check left hook. Not sure what their strategy was going in.
You can't throw body shots at a constantly moving target. Kovalev bounces out of range very well. That's why Ward couldnt get to Kovalev's body early either. When Kovalev is out of shape, he gasses in the 4th or 5th round, then starts trying to rest his legs, and he'll start giving away the body.

Rewatch the fight try to find where it would be safe for Yarde to go to the body the first 4 rounds. You can always do more but Im just saying there's a reason no one, including Ward and Alvarez, were able to just go body body body from round 1. It took until the mid rounds for Kovalev to become an easy target.

Well , then i can make the same assumption as you did

Not on what you believe either

Not a Ward fan but most of those shots were borderline at max
I always stated that none of Kovi ‘s facial expressions were that of a man getting hit to the fughin balls
That is why , of course, imo again I believe he wanted out

              • Entertaining scrap. Kovalev looked more than a little shopworn and displayed all of his weaknesses (gassing before the 2nd wind, vulnerability to body shots, etc.) and he was in against an inexperienced challenger; however that challenger was fresh and undefeated. I give Yarde credit, he didn't want to lose that "0" and Kovalev had to take it from him. Kovalev is cagey and skilled and still has pop but his endurance and punch resistance make him the underdog (in my book) to the other titlists.

Canelo is a bad matchup, as he has cardio and skilled body attack, but it would be a good cash-out for the champ.

They will **** away the body for the first three rounds with the occasional head shot
From then on he’ll mix it up and Kovi will be doing the funky chicken dance
Canelo learnt more than just boxing from his Mayweather loss
Don't get overexcited bro. Its being rumored for November 2nd. That means Canelo will be fighting a damaged Kovalev. So if he does KO Kovalev, please don't be a44hole and start saying Canelo hits harder than Yarde, Canelo smells blood, etc etc. Yeah he smells blood at the negotiating table. At the strategy table. He sees a still wounded Kovalev, wounded by YARDE not by Canelo, and he's going after it like a shark.

Just when the fight happens, please don't lie about it. Don't leave out the fact that Canelo is fighting a damaged Kovalev, not the one that fought Yarde tonight. The one that fought Yarde tonight would have been a problem for Canelo. Yarde is a lot bigger, stronger, and more powerful than Canelo, although Canelo obviously has better skills. The Kovalev that went 12 with Yarde I think would have gone 12 vs Canelo and had a good chance to outpoint him. Yarde hits harder than Canelo, trust me. Yarde was also more aggressive than Canelo probably would have been able to be vs THAT Kovalev. Now that Kovalev will still be injured when Canelo fights him, THAT Kovalev, Canelo may be able to be very aggressive against. But the Kovalev that Yarde fought would have been a great fight.

Damn, I'm so pissed Canelo vs Kovalev didnt happen September 14th. This Kovalev vs Canelo would have been FOTY.

And he’ll have to get that W early or that’s where I believe Kovi’s reach and power will come into play
Canelo having that stamina issue in the middle rounds and all
I just believe that father fughin time has caught up with Kovi
Someone ( Canelo ) with the right game plan , which is simple really , Yarde could of perfected it in sparring but oh yeah he don’t spar , go to the body early and the kill after , it’ll show all over Kovi’s face hence smelling blood
Judging Canelo or Kovalev off a fight November 2 will be impossible because we will have no idea how much Kovalev is still damaged, to head and body, from a 11 round war with Yarde, a giant puncher, only 9 weeks prior. They should really delay that fight if they want a fair fight and want fighter safety for Kovalev. I just hope another boxer doesn't have to die in the ring, this time against Canelo, before Canelo fans start caring about even playing fields. Canelo can skip independence day for no reason, delay fighting for months, but delaying a fight so the fight can be fair and safe for both fighters, that's too much to ask. Crazy world.

                    • Best jab ever?

Kovalev deserves a Heisman for the stiff-arm jab he showed in this fight. He should try doing it more with his right, as he did in the 10th. IMHO, Canelo will have hard time dealing with that with his 23" reach. Andre Ward is a great commentator and an awesome boxer, but his "We all know Kovalev is soft in the body" comment gets no credit - everyone knows he won that fight on low blows. Come back Andre, we want to see the third fight!
