Good 8th/9th round for Yarde, but he was himself already so fatigued there, that he spent himself trying to capitalise and seeking the KO. 11th was just a disaster, where all his energy was gone.

Kudos for travelling to Kovalev's backyard and acquitted himself well for a major portion of the fight, but it really was too much of a step up, too quickly.

Canelo's body shots I feel will see Kovalev off.
Think I agree with you pretty much across the board. Valiant effort, but not quite valiant enough.

I'm more of a Yarde fan off of this L than I suspected I would be. It'll be interesting to see what he takes away from this. And I'm super curious how Tunde deals with this & the fixes he employs to Yarde to get him into a title one day perhaps.

Alternatively it is possible that Yarde with his size and athleticism edge was able to dig to the body better than Canelo would...and along with that, Kov I felt took almost all of Yarde's shots well today.

To be fair I am not sure exactly what happened to him in the 8th round...maybe the body shots exacerbated some fatigue, or maybe it was juts fatigue or just body shots...or maybe it was a head shot that had him bothered...hard for me to say when watching it live.

I just think it is a bit optimistic to look at certain Kov fights and think that Canelo can do all the same things that Kov's opponents have done well against him...Canelo will present his own problems...but he won't have the size of Alvarez or Yarde..and that is a big factor imo.

Physically he is probably closer to Ward's size than the other two guys mentioned...and maybe his plan is to do what Ward did vs Kov...but imo that gameplan led to a clear L in the first fight as for the first 6 rounds Ward was surviving trying to deal with the power and jab.

And even the 2nd fight when Ward knew what he had to do...he still was eating some heavy shots to get inside...without getting into whether some shots were low or not, and whether it was a clean win...imo Ward was only able to effective going to the body after 12 rounds of experience and even then he had to eat some big shots.

Canelo will present his own problems...and if he can beat Kov at 175 with no restrictions or even fight him competitively like I felt Yarde did tonight...I would give him a lot of props.

Brother , Yarde did it all fughin wrong from the first bell
First of all , knowing he has not gone more than 7 rounds in his very short career , he should of been hitting the body from the beginning
That would of caused Kovi many problems , that jab would be almost non- existent , as he would not throw it so much because to cover his body
That would lead to Yarde getting some great openings upstairs
Secondly , imo , Kovi’s chin is not what it used to be
He can take a shot but as soon as two three combo of power shots hits it , he seems to be in trouble ( when before he could walk through )
Canelo will destroy him just by being a body puncher , which he is clearly
Canelo didn’t pick a Beterbiev or Bivol for good reason

Hey man all I'm saying is trying to go to the body consistently against Kov in the first four or so rounds...is much easier said than done imo

Going to the body leaves your head wide open.

              I see your point
Try seeing mine , when Yarde had any kind of success in the fight , was when he decided to **** the body , hence rounds 7-8
Now , from your own admission , Canelo is a devastating body puncher
Most Mexicans love to **** the body , and believe me the head will be open for the taking especially with Kovi who does not like being touched to the body

Yes in rounds 7 and 8 he was able to get there...and I expect Canelo to be able to get there too if he is around and kicking that late in the fight...whether he can still finish Kov if that happens...I'm not sure.

But I am not completely confident that Canelo can stand his ground effectively in the first 4-6 rounds like Yarde did...I would certainly tune in to see it though.

Has to be on DAZN, right?

What I’m saying is I believe Canelo gets there early and out by maximum 6 rounds
Canelo will bully Kovi in the ring , I always believed what Ward mentioned today , Kovi is not strong physically but is a puncher
Canelo will exploit all these things and get an early W

Yarde could of gone to the body especially with the hand speed he has , early especially to counter his stamina problems
When he did go to the body , it’s not that he couldn’t get to it cause when he did he got there easily
Just wasn’t his trainers strategy which it should of been first on the list , imo
And by ****ing that body , as I said before , that would of caused Kovi to not throw that jab as often as he did
Fearing for body shots and leaving his head open for the taking
