They did not avoid Chenko last year. Chenko ducked Andrade when the payday he was going to receive dropped from 400k to 250k AND that as the mandatory contender he was under no obligation to accept chump change. Why does this matter? Because HBO, which would drop out of the boxing business altogether before the end of that year, only budgeted 1 million dollars for that fight. So there was no way there was going to be enough money on the table to make the kind of money GGG deserved AND Chenko would have wanted without the fight going to a purse bid. If the fight went to a purse bid there was no way they would have been able to do that, have the winner promote the fight AND get the fight done within a reasonable enough time frame to fight Canelo in September.

Dervanchenko is a good, solid fighter and a stiff test for anybody in the division. Especially if they haven't had a chance to figure out his unusual style with hundreds of rounds of sparring, and don't have his trainer as their head cornerman, like Danny Jacobs did.

4 months is more than enough time to prep,dont lie. Especially since Derev was a 12 fight novice.
