The GGG will only fight bums until Canelo narrative died quickly

I did talk about Canelo but I also talked about Vanes and Sergei. I explained why Vanes was chosen over Sergei. HBO was only offering 1 million dollars for the card and Vanes was willing to sacrifice up front money for the opportunity. Sergei wanted too much money to make it work. He wasn't going to settle for chump change and as the mandatory challenger he had no obligation to do so. The only way to make it work for Sergei financially was to either A) push it back. Then try to get HBO to pay more for the fight or have it go to purse bid which lets the highest bidder decide who stages the fight or B) make it into a pay per view that would have flopped harder than a 900 pound man diving into a swimming pool. The problem is that doing that would have killed the chances for a Canelo fight in September (when his PED suspension was set to expire). But why sacrifice the Canelo fight in September to make sure a less talented and less accomplished fighter is satisfied financially for a fight that will earn GGG less money and do nothing for his career in comparison. The answer should be simple for anyone without a pathological hatred for GGG. You take the stay busy fight against the scrub so that the big money rematch against a superstar takes place in September as scheduled.Last edited by yankees7448; 08-25-2019, 12:44 PM.Comment

You are wrong. The ibf stripped ggg cuz he didn’t agree to fight derev after the vanes fight.
Maybe ggg could have fought derev in may and satisfied that obligation, but the ibf had already granted him an extension to face canelo on that date and weren’t about to strip ggg for not facing a mandatory on short notice after that fight fell through.
There’s confusion because of the reasoning the ibf gave for stripping ggg, but they only followed through when ggg didn’t negotiate to fight derev within the allotted time frame and chose to pursue canelo instead. At the end of the day, the situation was caused by canelo testing positive and pulling out of the fight.Comment

So Alvarez is to blame for Bumlovkin not having satisfied his IBF mandatory? There’s confusion because of the reasoning the ibf gave for stripping ggg, but they only followed through when ggg didn’t negotiate to fight derev within the allotted time frame and chose to pursue canelo instead.
