And yeah, wrestlers are crazy with the weight cutting.
Weight cutting is a huge contributor as it depletes the brain of liquid .
Never mind that with drastic weight cutting, you become sluggish in the ring . Specially in the later rounds .

Humans have pretty much the same brain weight . Or really very close .
How come there are less ring deaths at the heavyweights than in all other divisions ?
Somehow I recall a lot more ring deaths from 135 down ?

Boxers definitely have better chins than MMA'rs.
Boxers are just so conditioned to getting hit .
MMA'rs have weaker chins and due to the smaller gloves get hit more flush .

For years I've felt that championship fights are too damn long. SOMETIMES you're glad for every single round because there have been plenty of epic 12 rounders. But, I think the sport would be more exciting if it were a couple rounds shorter. Guys would be able to spend more energy each round.

I can't agree that it's safer because more rounds means you're going to pace yourself more and not fight as aggressively, not dump so much into each punch. It evens itself out so I don't think the safety angle really comes into play much.

12 rounds is safer than 15

so its likely 10 rounds is safer than 10

tiredness has more impact on defense

I agree with same day weigh in but would need stricter weight cutting rules. I was watching Roy Jones Jr. vs James Toney super middle weight fight the other day and on fight night he weighed 183 lbs... whats the point of weight classes if you're gonna weigh up to 2 classes higher after food and water.

I’d say the vast majority of deaths from in ring injuries is due to draining. Of what I can currently remember, there’s Mikey Garcia, Gary Russel Jr., Deigo De La Hoya, Vergil Ortiz have all collapsed in an attempt to make weight, and I know Garcia still fought after the fact.

Somebody made a great point in another thread about "Attention Span" and expecting a fan, particularly younger and casual fans to sit through a damn 12 Round Boxing Match is impossible in this ERA. They don't care about "Sweet Science", Strategies, Out-Boxing or any of that BS. They want to see ACTION and this is where UFC is Thriving compared to Boxing!

I would not be upset with more 8 Round Bouts to be honestly especially when you're fighting on Network TV! It might actually force guys to push the action but also fighters take less punishment and will be able to fight more consistently which is so needed in boxing to be honest

So yeah Championship Bouts 10 Rounds, Non-Championship/Regular Bouts 8 Rounds would be OK with Me. I love boxing but 12 Rounds is doing nothing for me, even though Pacquiao vs Thurman was a very entertaining 12 Rounds

                    100% its a contributing factor.

I didn't look into weight divisions in the 50ish fights I looked at but I will since you bring up a good point.

Idk where people come up with this from. A wrestler with sh^tty boxing skills dropped Conor McGregor with those barely there MMA gloves yet one of the best boxers of the last era of boxing couldn't drop a exhausted Conor McGregor with giant ass boxing gloves on.

So do boxers. So do BK guys. Its just less likely in boxing cuz they got those giant ass gloves on. Throw MMA gloves on boxers & I f#cking guarantee you'll see more KOs in boxing, one punch & otherwise.
