I'd say his best wins are GGG, Jacobs, Cotto and Lara. These were hard fought good wins but not really memorable (no kd's, ko's or beat downs)(IMO)
After those you've got Trout and an early KO of Kirkland, which are solid.
Mosely's an impressive name but Shane was over 40 and I guess Chavez Jr was an OK win but he was weight drained.
Alvarez has wins over guys like Cintron, Hatton, Angullo and Lopez but I don't rate those wins that high.
Alvarez has over 30 wins in Mexico but none that strike me as great.
A record of 52-1-2 is impressive but if you realize that over 30 of those fights were in Mexico and how few really good wins over top fighters Alvarez has (IMO) his resume is a good, solid one, nothing great.
Actually sad that this is the resume of the current ppv king. I like canelo but none of his fights blew my mind even with his best wins, like prime floyd who barely gets hit or prime manny who has a lot of gears. Don’t get me wrong, canelo is a really good fighter, perfectly balanced, great upper body movement.. speed and power. Really hard to beat... but something just can’t get me to get hooked. Maybe it’s the lack of gears in his fights. You can see him beating someone, but that’s it.. there’s no additional gear he can step on to overly impress. His workrate is good then declines in the later rounds, where most greats pull another will of energy. He’s good at everything he does, just not special in any of it. He’s not an offensive machine or nightmare, nor he is a defensive wizard.
And that 40 yr old mosely you mentioned ran for his life when he fought midget pacquiao and got KD in the process, while went toe to toe with Canelo and wasn’t even hurt the entire time.

Agree about Mosely. Shane came out strong and confident against Pac - until the knockdown - then Shane gave a clinic in how a veteran fighter survives for 12 rounds. :-)
You make some good points, Alvarez is a good solid fighter, does a lot well but nothing great.
He's never put any real daylight between him and the other top guys.
Alvarez is the#1 box office draw, which goes a long way to explain the hype.
The guy has the best resume in boxing, if people are calling it trash then I wonder what they think of their favorite fighter's resume.
I don't understand these boxing "analysts" and "experts" on here. They are just fans, only fans hate like this.
A resume is a resume, and Canelo has the best one. I challenge anybody to link me a better one among active fighters. Until someone can do it, this is not up for debate.
Bro. How far down your throat is Canelos ****? Asking for a friend.
I would highly suggest you quit skimming what I write and quit trying to make a pathetic attempt at an argument when you have none.
You only use resume as a talking point because it fits your agenda. Let's talk about resumes real quick.
AJ had a better resume than Ruiz but got knocked the **** out.
Resumes only mean so much, but it's important to you solely because it fits your agenda.
GGG does not have the same resume as Canelo but even at age 36 and 37 was the same caliber fighter. Again. Resumes only mean so much.
Not once did I argue that Canelos resume is not good, nor did I ever say it wasn't top 5. Those again are ****ty ass talking points you need to fit your agenda. YOURE WELCOME TO QUOTE ANYWHERE I SAID SUCH good luck
And to the bold. What would suggest to you that I am mad that Canelo somehow is gifted close decisions? THAT is merely an observation. Please defend that 114-114 score card in Canelo/Mayweather please. EVEN better yet defend that 118-110 GGG score card. Deserved score cards right?
And to the part where you suggest that more than enough people agree with the judges decisions. Liar much? To blatantly lie fits your agenda perfect. I wouldn't expect anything less. You wanna bet that more people believed GGG beat Canelo the first time around? That is a fight NO ONE believes he won, only his most die hard fans and even THEY dont beleive he won all saying it was a draw.
And to your comment about tough competition. Please bro. You saying the MW division is tough defeats all you canelo fans own damn pathetic argument that the MW division is weak and that is the only reason why GGG is relevant. All of a sudden its tough because your boy isn't doing as well as other fighters in their own divisions.
So is GGG a hype job or is he any good? I'm confused here. Is the MW division he reigned over for half a decade strong or weak?
I guess the answer depends on what fits your agenda
P.s. the fighters I mentioned I never said all had resumes that were better than Canelo, but unlike him are head and shoulders above their peers.
While Crawford doesnt have a great resume hes not just unified but undisputed at 140. Even if it was a weak win, hes undisputed. Something that Canelo has repeated failed to do and lots of boxers have failed to do.
Please remind me not to get into any boxing debates with you! :-)
All the emotion around Alvarez (and GGG) just stops any kind of discussion.
The diva can't be a good, solid fighter or a top guy with some good wins.
Nah, he's got to be "great", with the "best" resume in boxing.

I think for some people...they look at it and say going 12 with old Mosley at 154...or 12 with OK Trout at 154...or 12 with old Cotto at 155...I mean those aren't exactly impressive performances...those weren't prime pfp greats he was facing and he didn't exactly knock it out of the park.
I thought he beat Lara 7-5 but a lot of people don't think he really excelled in that fight either...Jacobs a solid win but not as dominant imo as some of Nelo's fans try to make it...and many seem to feel he lost twice to GGG...and then the Mayweather loss as well.
If you just look at 'name' then yes Nelo as well as Pac have by far the best 'resume' now...but I think you have to look at when/where/what weight/how you performed etc as well with a resume...and Nelo hasn't exactly faced the best versions of most of his big names, and has not really excelled and dominated against any of them.
It seems like Floyd and Nelo fans unite on this stuff..because Nelo is following Floyd's formula of taking on a good name at the end (or beginning) of their career...so they want to highlight those wins to hype up the resume...but imo it is a little strange to act like Mosley Cotto etc were great wins in the circumstances in which they were won.
Who you beat matters...but you have to combine it with what weight/age/place/how you won etc...and in those areas Nelo's resume is still really solid, he is a great fighter...but yeah I do think it is a little overhyped.
Please remind me not to get into any boxing debates with you! :-)

You cant even debate boxing when you fail to even comprehend the language you speak.
You're welcome to point out anywhere where I suggest that Canelo is not good. Canelo is very good, BUT just because I dont think BOSSNELO is a BOXING GOD you want to argue?
Canelo has good wins but he is in no way head and shoulders above his competition like some other fighters and his resume doesnt make him far better either. Resumes only take you so far. GGG who has an inferior resume and even Jacob's but are very close to him in terms of skill but not resume.
Also, none of those other top fighters from their respective decisons have been popped for PEDs or has had so many controversial decisions.
We cant have a real discussion because you cant accept those bolded facts. Compare to other top fighters from other divisions.

I was totally agreeing with you bro.
I should have been clearer.
His resume is full of shot and smaller fighters, and 3 he should have lost. Seriously a who's who of ****ty fights except Jacobs. That's his only real legit good win. Liam Smith is a great example of a bull**** fight. Oh and that clown at 168 pounds. Dare to be great. Yeah okay. Fight the worst of the champions at 154 and 168.
