Thanks for posting all that. I had caught most of it, but not all of it.
Thats INSANE to me. And it don't even make sense unless Oscar & Diaz just thought it was going to happen anyway & maybe Canelo was mad now, but either GGG loses & its off the table anyway or he cools down maybe. Idk if that makes any sense but maybe these mfers scared to tell Canelo whats what or they are scared Canelo wouldn't have been down with the deal if he knew that part of it & then GBP is kinda f#cked cuz I'm sure SOMEONE woulda paid GBP something for content, but probably not the amount DAZN has given them through Canelo fights & to develop the next era of talent.https://theathletic.com/1113916/2019...h-with-canelo/
A LOT to dig in from Pugmire's article he just posted.
How the hell did GBP or Oscar in particular guarantee a GGG trilogy without actually telling Canelo. And DAZN supposedly got it in writing??
I've been dying to know how much DAZN gave GBP. So $90 for 50 shows. Now, Canelo is upset that GBP got the deal from DAZN off his back. Does he want some of the 90M that GBP has for the other 10 GBP cards or something?
I suspect this is something Canelo woulda wanted in on like GGG got in on with his deal. I'm sure Canelo is like most other highly successful people in a limited time career like boxing & wouldn't mind being able to throw together 3 or 4 shows a year himself on DAZN to have something to make money post-his own career & to focus on in his out of the ring days.
Dude does got that No Boxing No Life brand going. Thats not a tat a guy I'd bet a guy gets if he just plans to walk away from boxing one day.
I was joking about GBP lowballing Derevyanchenko, but looks like it was true lol.So Derevynachenko got offered 5.5M for Canelo yet DAZN will be willing to pay him around 7M for GGG? Huh? I knew something was up yesterday with how quickly GGG/Derevyanchenko seemed to get the deal done... I mean we found out its not done yet but it should be soon.
Yea can't blame him for turning down Canelo. 1.5M more + a better chance to win the fight (imo) + a likely bigger payday for Canelo if he does get past GGG & gets to unify in the future.
Yea this all is starting to add up now, cuz it seems beyond obvious DAZN isn't signing Canelo & GGG to NOT fight a 3rd time. But seems like everyone except Canelo knew that was the plan which is mfing insane. Canelo needs to legit gtfo asap with Oscar. This is unforgivable bs to me. Idk how much longer he's signed for. Idk if he can sue to get out earlier. Idk if he gots a buy out. But whatever option he has he has to take cuz this isn't how you handle the career of the biggest name in the game. Its a equal ratio of ******, bold & disrespectful.Last statement from Skipper is what this is all about. DAZN just desperately wants to get the trilogy fight set and in motion. They know they f'd up big time if they can't get that fight done. GGG isn't a sub driver as Skipper actually FLAT out said in this article that majority of the subs from DAZN have come off the back of the two Canelo fights.
Bruh he ain't need GBP (or anyone else for years now). Once you are the #1 guy like Canelo has been you can freelance promoters fight by fight or til you get tired of them. You definitely don't need a multiple fight or multiple year deal. For the life of me I don't get why people don't do this like SRL did his whole career basically as I understand it & like Floyd did when he had the juice to do it & power to stand on his own brand.Really could be at this point that Canelo really doesn't need GBP anymore. He's THAT dude and wants to make his own decisions. Will still need some sort of manager or something to handle the negotiations but this is probably heading towards a split if the contract allows an out for Canelo.
But yea if its not in the pipeline & assuming all this info is correct I dont see how Canelo doesn't leave at his earliest ability to do so.Comment

Just thought of it now, but just reminded me of the DLH and Hearn little back and forth on twitter. DLH commented after Hearn had gone on to Mannix's podcast and mentioned how GBP and DAZN had an agreement for the trilogy taking place in September. He kind of said it in a smug way like I thought they had that agreement but Kovalev would be a good fight.
THAT seems to be what triggered DLH. Because I'm sure at that point or around that time, Canelo got word of this agreement and wasn't too pleased.Comment

lol so true (also how do you imbed a tweet #Fail)Comment

What did Canelo think though? Thats the fight the fans want. Unless he is fighting Kovalev who else is a BIG fight for him? They put that fight on the table to get him more money which they did. He got the best contract in sports with that. My understanding is that the fight was promised to dazn but not explicitly written in the contract. Nelo should be happy, gbp has done good by him.
To those who hate on the promoters. Look at what happened to Yuriorkis Gamboa after he left top rank? Mikey Garcia? Then look at Tim Bradley, Brandon Rios. Promoting aint easy. I get it Canelo is top of the food chain but his deal wouldve been substantially less. He also has a problem who can he fight for a 35 mil pay day? Only Golovkin. Maybe Charlo? Spence?Last edited by Randomum; 08-02-2019, 07:14 PM.Comment

He's the king of the sport. He could do whatever he pleases. He has never ducked anybody. You're man crush GGG had his opportunity and got outboxed and outmuscled in the second fight. GGG needs to fight some other told level competition other than Canelo.Canelo drops the title as he walks by and then makes a scene, "Oh nooo!! I've dropped my title. They stole my title!!" All the while we know that he's been avoiding GGG like the plague. Was willing to move up to 175 just to not give GGG the trilogy and when that fell through wanted a way out. Now the IBF flexes their muscle and strips him. Good riddance. DAZN wants GGG and Canelo doesn't. He's acting like a complete diva.Comment

When you say GBP lowballed Derevyanchenko, was it them or DAZN? Because like I said in another thread, GBP really can't bet on getting a certain amount of PPV buys and are operating off the budget DAZN gives them. Canelo had already agreed to take 5M less than the 35M per fight deal he signed. So did DAZN just give GBP a 35-36M budget for this fight or something? Thanks for posting all that. I had caught most of it, but not all of it.

Agreed, Canelo doesn't need GBP or anyone at this point. Still needs a solid management team but can operate off his own name and promotion. Everyone has to come to him anyways so he can continue fighting on DAZN and operate as a one man band.
GBP not telling Canelo they were promising DAZN the trilogy is flat out INSANE and FOUL. Can't blame Canelo for being ticked off here.Comment
