To those who hate on the promoters. Look at Yuriorkis Gamboa after he left top rank? Mikey Garcia? Then look at Tim Bradley, Brandon Rios. Promoting aint easy.
It's not in Canelo's contract that he has to fight GGG and that wouldn't be possible since Canelo signed before GGG signed to DAZN months later. And you really can't set that in fighter's contracts anyways.

This was in a written agreement between GBP and DAZN...NOT Canelo. He is rightfully ticked that they did this without telling him about it.

This makes sense but not really sure how much you could blame GBP here. Again, DAZN is giving them the money for these fights. And Kovalev had to pay off a gazillion different people so it just wasn't going to happen.

What if Canelo just says F*** it and decides to sit out and lawyer his way out of his GBP contract? He is still young, the most marketable fighter and can easily go back to PPV with a bigger upside. Doubt it happens, but something DAZN/GBP need to start being worried about.

Canelo knew GBP got like 90 mil from DAZN for the other shows and probably thought they could use some of that money

If it is truly 90M for 50 shows, that's not THAT much money.

But yeah, could be that he wanted them to pony up from their own money to get this fight done.

Was GGG there when Canelo signed his contract? Why would he be thinking about GGG when he signed his contract?

If we could get rid of the other sanctioning orgs then all boxers would be forced to get ranked by the IBF. And sticking to the rules would produce great fights of the best against the best.

But we have 4 sanctioning orgs and promoters avoiding the IBF because they can't pull their shenanigans with those strict rules in place.

In that environment the IBF ends up hurting the sport sometimes instead of helping it. Even though they are the only straight shooter of the bunch.

So how did the IBF stripping Canelo come about?
