They understand that sometimes you have a better guy in front of you, and you have to win on heart or conditioning or finding your opponent's technical flaws.

Buddy is telling Gatti to slip Floyd's punches and move his upperbody. HUH? Against the best boxer in a generation?

McGirt quote after the fifth round vs. Mayweather: "C'mon, baby. You still have seven rounds to go". True Story.
    WOW we agree on something!!!

    • I did not read any of the other posts so what i am about to say may have already been addressed but I wanted to make my peace.

So i will start off by directing my reply to the thread starter by quoting dane cook by saying - "are you out of ur ****ing mind?!?!" U sound like a child when u say **** like that. Gatti centainly no bum, u dont make millions of dollars by beeing a bum. You question Gatti's skills and his wins and losses column but you can not question the mans heart and add it too the fact he has nver ducked any opponet which lots of fighter today r doin.

Couple that with numerous fights of the years and one of the thee most historic boxing trilogies of all time, with wins over Tracy Harris Patterson (twice), Gabe Ruelas, Terron Millet, Lenard Dorin, Jesse James Leija and two world titles to boot, that not the definetion of a bum.

Is it hall of fame material? I dunno it is not for us to decide. What i do know is the HOF is not that hard to get into, so time will tell.

Also Gatti is one of the few fighters that trancend the sport of boxing, when Gatti fights the whole sporting world is on notice, it doesnt matter if he wins or loses.

He is definetly gone which he will be wil never be no one quite like him, even if you do not respect the attention Gatti gets b/c u think he lacks in the skill dept which is myopic but you will miss him, ... I already do

Would you say that Gatti is one of the toughest guys in the sport today?

What amazes me is that today is that fighters in alot of ways are total *******s. The so callled elite fighters never fight, when they do fight, they fight not to get hurt, if things get rough they will just lay down, De La Hoya vs Hopkins as an example.

Also I cannot believe that fighters are so reluctant to fight in a way that entertains when they see guys like Gatti who are less physcially gifted than them make the same money as them or even more so because they fight in a way people can relate to and respect. Even though Gatti lost Saturday, He can still make a million fighting again.

          • To answer your question I actually don't think "he is one toughest guys in sports." He is a just a good solid prizefighter. Why there is not more guys like him is what eludes me.

Gatti was looking for a way out of the fight after he voulentarly went down the second time by Baldomiers so called hard punch. As he went down he even looked at the ref as to say "ref please stop the fight" no balls to the wall from Gatti in this fight or in his fight with Mayweather. And talking about body punchs how about the ones Delahoya delivered to Gatti, he looks towards his corner and they stop the fight.

Really Like Delahoya said, "if i lost to someone like Gatti, my career is over!" Gatti, is no hall of fame, Delahoya paid him good money so Gatti can be used as a punching bag, Delahoya sure worked him over.
