HOF = great fighters not bums like Gatti!

I hope we don't have some corrupt people voting this club fighter bum into the hall of fame. Putting him in would greatly dishonor the HOF and cause it to lose major credibility. You put two crack heads to fight and they are evenly matched you will probably get a great fight but are they great fighters? Hell no! You put Gatti in with bums like Micky Ward you get a great fight because they match up with his limited skills well but put him in against the best and his ass will be touching the canvas. Lets never lose sight of the fact that he was nothing more than a punching bag for the best fighters and even some of the bums.

I agree with you 100%. Gatti wasn't the most talented fighter ever but he had great heart and was definitely NOT A BUM. Gatti is the Rudy of boxing and has done much with his relatively limited skills. I'm not sure about HOF but he is definitely a credit to the sport.

Gatti was a 2 divisional Champ and not a BUM. The guy is simply past his prime that's what it is, so stop the insult ****** DUMB****.

1) EVERYBODY acknowledges that the 140 title was a paper title: Floyd, Merchant, Brian Kenny, etc. And YOU know it, too. Gatti was not the true champion at 140. Gatti was champion ONCE: when he beat Tracy Patterson at 130 about ten years ago. Nobody can take that from him.

2) "Never ducked anybody" is not HOF criteria. Demarcus corley, emanuel augustus, jesse james leija, etc are perennial gatekeepers. IT IS THEIR JOB TO FIGHT THE BEST. Should they be in the Hall?

Fighting the best isn't the criteria. Beating the best is. Or at least being competitive with the best. GATTI DID NEITHER.

3)"always entertained"? Yes, gatti was an entertaining fighter. Against other lower-rung guys. You can see that on any Friday night at Church Street Gym. Two unskilled guys going at it and giving it their all.

Listen, Gatti had alot of heart. Left it all in the ring. I respect that. So say a prayer for him. Keep him in your heart. Buy some memorabilia. Applaud when he walks in the room. But the IBHOF is not the place to honor guys who did what he did.

i hate gatti the worst because of the gamache fight but i think he should be in the hall ...if barry m can get in on a featherweight title regin that didnt last long then yeah gatti should get in
