"who cares" you're hating on Gatti, period. Gatti would fight anybody, he deserves credit for that..he is not great but he is not a "bum" bum is someoone who shows no class what so ever like Judah...as much as Gatti has been beatin down in fights he NEVER resulted to dirty tactics..he is not the best but he has HEART AND is no bum....who ever started this thread is a BUM. period

Jesse James Leija has fought great comp. Yory Boy campos. DeMarcus Corley. Have any of them been less than 100% professional in the ring?

Hell, Zab Judah fought Kostya Tszyu, Floyd Mayweather and Cory spinks. And I don't want Judah in the Hall unless he has a squeegee in his hand. And those windows better be sparkling.

1) EVERYBODY acknowledges that the 140 title was a paper title: Floyd, Merchant, Brian Kenny, etc. And YOU know it, too. Gatti was not the true champion at 140. Gatti was champion ONCE: when he beat Tracy Patterson at 130 about ten years ago. Nobody can take that from him.

2) "Never ducked anybody" is not HOF criteria. Demarcus corley, emanuel augustus, jesse james leija, etc are perennial gatekeepers. IT IS THEIR JOB TO FIGHT THE BEST. Should they be in the Hall?

Fighting the best isn't the criteria. Beating the best is. Or at least being competitive with the best. GATTI DID NEITHER.

3)"always entertained"? Yes, gatti was an entertaining fighter. Against other lower-rung guys. You can see that on any Friday night at Church Street Gym. Two unskilled guys going at it and giving it their all.

Listen, Gatti had alot of heart. Left it all in the ring. I respect that. So say a prayer for him. Keep him in your heart. Buy some memorabilia. Applaud when he walks in the room. But the IBHOF is not the place to honor guys who did what he did.

Do you know what you have to give to Gatti si that he never ducked anyone.. Unlike some of these fighters that say that they will fight anyone anywhere. I.e. Mayweather,Jorge Arce,Hatton.

To the people who say that "gatti will fight anyone":

Why do we know the names of Joey Gamache? Branco? Damgaard?

Gatti spent the last few years earning a NICE buck (1-2 mil a pop) fighting these guys at home. He dug up a bunch of foreign (white) stiffs to pad his record.

I don't blame him for that. Boxing is a business, after all. He has an arena to sell.

But next time you are tonguing Gatti's taint, consider HOW did he find Damgaard and Branco - guys we had never heard of.

Based on what was said if you're not letting Gatti in then I say you need to take a lot of fighters out. The boxing HOF is not only for the best of the best but also fighters that showed heart and entertain.

Duplicity is Gatti a bum? As strongly as you feel that he is not HOF status..you should feel just as strong that he is not a BUM.

You say he is not HOF status fine, i agree. Why aren't you defending the fact that the thread starter called him a BUM? Im sure you havent missed a Gatti fight in a long time.

Well for one Ken Norton did less then what Gatti he got in over one win.Rocky Graziano is a big name but is more or less the same fighter that Gatti is .Who did Gene Fullmer beat other then a over the hill Ray Robinson ? ....look the point is that being unbeatable is not the only way to the hall . In truth i have no prob with the ppl being in or out, and the same goes with Gatti if he gets in great if not no big deal.

Gatti was a B minus fighter who had great heart and a very exciting style.

B minus fighters don't deserve the HOF. Regardless of their heart or style. Case closed.
