    Charlie,
When there is a thread, and someone responds, it is ****** of you to say "who cares".

Obviously, the people who respond care enough to comment.

If YOU don't care, then move your sissy ass along. You are such a little girl. No interest in the topic? Go to the next one.

I think thats what explains Gatti being in the hall of fame or not. hes like vargas, always fighting the best but never winning.
iunno for me though, i dont mind seeing him in the hall of fame, would that be such a crime? he gave the newer generations a brawler that had many memorable fights.

Gatti is not a "bum". He is about a half-notch below guys like DeMarcus Corley or Angel Manfredy. He has a more exciting style than those other "B" fighters, though, and that made him very marketable and popular.

A B minus fighter is not a bum. Neither is a B minus fighter a Hall of Famer.

Gatti was a B minus fighter who had great heart and a very exciting style.

B minus fighters don't deserve the HOF. Regardless of their heart or style. Case closed.

          I agree. Good post.

Yea but Vargas was at least competitive with great fighters, with the exception of his last fight. And he has beaten better fighters.

If you put Gatti in the Hall, then you also need to put these guys in the Hall:

              Fernando Vargas
              Angel Manfredy
              Ike Quartey
              Oba Carr
              Etc.

Your Fernando Vargas example was good, except that Vargas was FAR more competitive against top competition than Gatti ever was. And vargas has a win over Winky Wright on his resume.

Gatti has all the rights in the world to be in the Hall of fame. He has won two division championships. and He was in a Fight of the Year, four times, so those who thinks Gatti is a bum. Then you need to watch old school boxing, boxing in which had Rocky Marciano and those lived in. Most of those fights that you consider legends fought bums and got into the hall of fame. All you look at is how the man lost his fights rather than acheivements.

                  Lil Hop:

Being in "fight of the year" with a C-level fighter means that you are about on par with that guy.

Those weren't Hagler-Hearns where you had two world-class fighters going at it. You are talking about guys of the calibre of Ivan Robinson, Ruelas, and Micky frickin Ward.

TWO world championships?? So, was brian Kenny , Larry Merchant and all the other guys wrong when they called that a paper title? Gatti's title at 130 was all the way legit. 140? Eh, not so much.

Gatti never beat a top fighter. He was never even competitive with a top fighter. He was beaten by several 2nd and 3rd rate guys. NO HALL FOR YOU!! Sorry, Arturo. Have some manicotti and a bottle of grappa.

The difference with Rocky was that he fought the competition available. The HW division was weak. The best fighters were all past their prime. He ran the division, if Im not mistaken. The weight classes Gatti fought in were strong as hell. Any of the elite fighters would've whooped him.
