You are an idiot! According to you I can challenge Woody Allen and if its a great trilogy I belong in the hall. The fact that me and Woody Allen are mediocre fighters does not play into it right? Ward is a total piece of ****. A washed up piece of **** who gave Gatti 3 tough fights. So what? Do that against a great fighter if you want to be considered great! Two bums giving a competitive fight is still a BUM FIGHT! Fighting bumfights does not get you into the hall. Let Gatti beat a Shane Mosley, Oscar or Floyd or actually make it the to end of the 12th without getting Koed. That will never happen because Gatti never belonged in the ring with those great fighters!
You are a very mean spirited person. Gatti may not be a HOF fighter, but he is not "a bum", neither is Ward. They both put on a great fightS for us, and I watched their triology over and over again. Personally, these fighters entertained me much more than many hall of famers did. These guys were in 2 fight of the year bouts (including round of the year). Gatti was in 3. The fact that you talk about 2 of the great warriors (with tremendous hearts) of our time shows your class. How can you have so much hate for guys who have done nothing more than give us hell of a fights. I wish there was a different type of awards for fighters who are not as naturally talented, but have HEART and leave it all in the ring, then these 2 would be the first one in it.
PS I think both of them would kick your ass on their worst day.
What do you think about all this ? My point was that if he makes it or not I don't care but I do think he will make it SOME DAY.I'm not trying to make Gatti look better then he was because in truth he was never on that top level and nothing can change that. The thing is that there is a very sad lack of respect for a true boxing warrior being shown here. No he was not Da La Hoya or Floyd but he showed more heart gave more of himself then both of them togeather. How many fighters today are trashed for "running" in a fight well Gatti as far as I recall always took pain and came back asking for more. He could have "ran" in that last fight he could have "ran" in any of them but he did what a fighter should do he fought untill he could take no more . If he is a HOF fighter or not does not matter but he should always be respected if not by other fighters then the fans because who else of this era has gave so much of them self every fight, I can think of none .
Exactly how I feel. Sad, very sad indeed. Words like "Bum" or "Piece of ****" shouldn't be in the same paragraph with Gatti or Ward. Its sad that some boxing fans bash on a true worrior because of his limited natural talents. I respect guys like Gatti, Ward, Agustus (i think that how it spells), who take on all commers, leave everything in the ring, have tremendous hearts, those are the true champions of boxing and to see them reffered to as "bums" breaks my heart.
Is the HOF only for those with the best records?, best technician?, most belts?.....which one all of them?...what is the criteria??? As a fan, I think they should induct those boxers who brought something very very special to boxing...in Gatti case, name me 10 fighters with more heart, name me 10 fighters that brought more excitement to the ring, name me 10 fighters who got off the canvas more time and WIN than Gatti.
Did Gatti have the best record? NO. Did he have the most knockouts?. NO. Was he the best skilled? NO. Did he fill the house every night? YES. Did he make the fair weathered boxing fan into an average fan? YES. Did he make the average boxing fan...a true fan? Probably! Did he have a decent record? YES. Did he fight a lot of guys? YES. Did he go toe to toe and leave it in the ring EVERY night? YES. Did he make many people jump right out of their chair and onto their feet and screeming at the TV? YES. Did your heart race with anticipation when he fought? He did for me! So for me, the HOF shouldnt be for just 1 good reason to get in, or two or three, it should be about what that special warrior brought to the table for boxing as an industry AND their own personal accomplishments. Should Gatti go into the Hall of Fame? Yes, because I think 50 years from now, when my son is 67 years old, and he goes to the HOF to see me in the Cutmen Section in there..(lol)...he will also see Gatti...and he would say, "man I remember watching this guy with my dad...what a great fighter, he's was on the canvas all the time and there was just no stoppin this guy...he had more heart than anyone I can remember, he was a hellova fighter that Gatti was"..... thats why..... The Coag!
gatti definetly deserves the hall of fame. there never was an ARTURO gatti, and there will never be another one.
Why do people say crap like this?
I have respect for what Gatti brought to the sport, but this is rubbish. There's been plenty of fighters over the years who have been very exciting, just like Gatti.
dude ken norton got used as a ****ing sparin partner in the 70s dont give me that he proved him self **** ...he got a win over ali and maybe a few others but got ko'd into next week by the host of sluggers he fought
Ken Norton got KO'd one time in his prime, by George Foreman. He got stopped very early in his career when he was still developing and improving.
The other KO losses came late in his career, and even then, against HUGE punchers.
and that "hall of famer" barry m beat had started boxing 10 years prior to when barry m started fighting approx ... so damn saying that was anything but a watershed would be a bull face lie
What's with the "......"??
Are you suggesting that Pedroza is not worthy of Canastota?
Pedroza was a great fighter, chosen in 1995 by The Ring magazine as one of the top 5 FWs of all-time.
And he wasn't shot then, he was a little past it, but still a very good fighter.
Well for one Ken Norton did less then what Gatti he got in over one win.
No. Norton beat other HW contenders around that time. Such as Jerry Quarry (horrible beating), Duane Bobick, Jimmy Young, Tex Cobb (when Norton was old).....as well as fighting very close at age 35 against a prime Larry Holmes.
This isnt a knock on Gatti, this a knock on ODH for fighting a smaller man,,look what happen to ODH when he went to middle to fight Bernard..
ONE BODY SHOT! dummy
Both Gatti and DLH had it coming in terms of getting beaten by a bigger guy, since they fought smaller guys.
But at least Gatti didn't go down from the softest looking body shot KO ever.
