HOF = great fighters not bums like Gatti!

Did he go toe to toe and leave it in the ring EVERY night? Should Gatti go into the Hall of Fame? Yes, because I think 50 years from now, when my son is 67 years old, and he goes to the HOF to see me in the Cutmen Section in there..(lol)...he will also see Gatti...and he would say, "man I remember watching this guy with my dad...what a great fighter, he's was on the canvas all the time and there was just no stoppin this guy...he had more heart than anyone I can remember, he was a hellova fighter that Gatti was"..... thats why..... Did he quit on the stool after six rounds against Mayweather? YES. Are you sure you said six rounds? YES. Not even eight or nine? NO. Did he leave everything in the ring that night? NO. Does a champion quit on his stool after SIX rounds? NO. Is this a display of great courage or heart? NO.

Gatti sold out his entire fan base when filling his pockets and quitting against Mayweather. In front of his home crowd no less. That will always be my abiding memory of Gatti, strolling around in the ring not look very fussed by the evening's proceedings after he'd been thoroughly embarrassed by another top level fighter. He had some watchable fights against journeymen like Ward. I think even I could give Ward a lesson with one arm behind my back. Gatti was a limited fighter who marketed himself brilliantly on his ability to make bad fighters look good, and great fighters look even better. If he gets in the HOF, it will no longer be vaguely credible.

Gatti took an inhuman beating from Mayweather. Most guys would not have stood up to that for so long. Yah, he quit after the 6th round, but his corner was throwing in the towel or the fight would have been stopped anyway. I mean, he could have stayed in and gotten knocked out cold or permanently injured like G-man, but to people who really respect the sport, there's no reason for anyone to want to see that. Yah, it was a terrible performance from Gatti, but I wouldn't say he just walked in without a care and gave up.

I don't have a problem with Gatti per se, I have a problem with people saying he deserves to be in the HOF. Or that he is a "great". I think that's absolutely laughable. He just got schooled by Mayweather, it wasn't an "inhuman" beating. Mayweather doesn't even hit that hard. When he got pulled out he seemed happy to quit. To call him a "great" or HOFer is a total abuse of either term.

Im sure that at some point or perhaps even now someone less deserving than gatti will be in the hall.

He bring explosive and exciting fight and that is enought to put him HOF for me.

He may not have the greatest skills and record but he has many fans who love his heart, and they will want him in, and I think he deserves it.

They should probably have a seperate wing for "exciting" fighters...it would be ashame to leave fighters that made an impact on the fans out, but I wouldn't label them "Hall of Fame"...your Hall is somewhere else

gatti definetly deserves the hall of fame. there never was an ARTURO gatti, and there will never be another one. he deserves to be remember for ever in the sport of boxing, and thats what the hall of fame is all about

He didn't quit against Floyd, fool. His trainer McGirt stopped the fight. I'm sure Arturo would have kept going. I agree he didn't always beat the best and got rocked by some very good fighters but he was very exciting and thrilling to watch. I know he won a championship somewhere in his career. Whether he makes the fame or not many will remember him.
