Some boxers just can't rehydrate after losing all that weight. Taking punches to the head after that can have devastating affects on the brain.

And that's the thing. I didn't even watch the fight but I shouldn't have needed to.
The referee and the trainer are fully responsible for the health of the fighters in the ring. There is no shame in stopping the fight in the event one of them realizes one of the fighters are in danger of their health.
For those who watched it, what was Maxim's condition prior to the KO?

Buddy can teach a fighter to be defensive minded but he didn't train Maxim from the begining, the kid comes with a euro style set
Subriel was just relentless has a pressure style and Maxim couldn't put any hits that made him back off but he was hitting Subriel and the reff can stop it if the fighter is showing some offense
This just sad and he has a small child

Damn, Rest in Heaven!
I was watching this fight with a casual and he didnt understand why I kept saying stop the fight during the 9th, 10th and 11th. Even on saturday I was explaining at my fight part why it was good to stop the lipinets fight. I even used dadashev as an example from the night before.
What a cruel sport. I wish his family the best of luck with their lives.

I only saw the last round of the fight. His eyes didn't look right when McGirt was telling him he was stopping it, yet he wanted to continue. Judging by the way he deteriorated so fast I can't imagine what would've happened if he continued to fight.
I don't know if I can continue with boxing after these last few weeks of sad news. I might have to take another break from the only sport I care about.
