How was Marquez able to drop and stop Pacquiao?

It's because of Juan Manuel Marquez' timing and speed. Against JMM, Pac doesn't have the same natural speed advantage that he normally has when he is challenging a naturally larger, slower and stronger opponent at 147.
Also, with Marquez he finally had a fighter who was just as fast or even faster than himself; That when some of the punches landed he couldn't see them.
As opposed to the naturally larger, slower and stronger opponents; Whose punches he can see coming from a mile away.
It's never been about the force behind the punches that hurts Pacquiao. It's always been about the timing, accuracy and speed behind them that hurts him.

JMM was a great counter puncher and Pac's an aggressive come forward fighter.
But the real reason was Manny and his team gave Marquez 4 bites at the apple. Eventually Marquez was going to land the perfect counter (and having Herredia as his "nutrition" guy didn't hurt).

Marquez is an all-time great who had 4 fights with Pacquiao before figuring out how to land that bomb on him. And despite that, he was still losing the fight untill that shot. It's just great timing, experience, Ring IQ and knowing your opponent in and out.

They get strong narcotics such as dilaudid and morphine. Bottom line, it's not a wonder drug. Otherwise, it wouldn't be legal in the NFL or in boxing.
Now can it be abused? sure, but make sure you're ready to deal with serious consequences such as GI bleed and kidney failure. Two conditions that will definitely shorten your career as an athlete
Yes but the reality in sports medicine is:
We know Toradol isnt legal 1 hour before a fight. Especially when mixed with Lidocaine, Bupivacaine and Celstone(24 hour ban). Remember when Pacquiao was caught by NSAC before the Floyd fight?
As per commission rules : fighters must enter a contest in their natural state.
...and....Placebo effect? OK.
NFL and MBL has come under fire for excessive Toradol use. Not sure why you choose to ignore this.
