That was a surprise. As good a win for Murata as it was, in the almost-2 rounds the fight went, he did nothing different here than in the first fight but start faster & caught Brant early. & he still came out looking like he got battered. He'll be an easy target for the big names in the division coming straight forward like that. He'll make for some fun fights though.

After Brant's insane work rate in the first outing and in the first defense against Baysangurov I was expecting more of the same here, and round 1 seemed to validate that expectation with the difference of a welcomely more aggressive Murata...and then the next round happened.
My world's kind of upside down right now...I didn't rank either guy with the elite at 160, but I was pretty secure in the idea that Brant had proven superior and more worthy of that next ladder rung in opposition than Murata. Now? Definitely not writing off Brant but my interest in a GGG-Murata is definitely rekindled...and I could go for a trilogy here too.
I agree GGG-Murata in Japan would be pretty cool...and we know Murata would come to fight there...no way he lays down in front of his people in Japan...GGG actually has some good options right now lol...some fights more make-able than others...but Murata, Charlo, Andrade, Dervy, Canelo all possible?
Pretty cool...Smith at 168 would probably be my favorite non-Canelo fight for Mr G...but yeah Murata's win really shakes things up and makes him a player here again...good for him and very impressive win...couldn't imagine a better performance from him...I'm very impressed with his gameplan/execution hereComment

However, I wonder if Murata would be keen to go back to America again after last time went so badly. They could probably do GGG-Murata at Tokyo Dome, but I dont think DAZN would be interested due to the time difference.Comment

It may really interest them to get a hold in Japan though? To get subs..but yeah time zone wise it would be a tough sell.Comment

I figured Murata knew and made the adjustments he needed to make, it was very risky for him to take an immediate rematch unless he had a plan. Round 2 sounds like it was good, will have to find it. Hope Brant got paid well enough to fly over to Japan to lose his title.Comment

Murata is LEGIT.
You could see from his body language as he made the walk to the ring that he was focused. He had a point to prove and he was all business.
All that talk about how he should have taken a keep busy fight before this did not matter to him. He made it all seem irrelevant.
Brant is a quality fighter. He was ready. He was super confident and took the fight to Murata to remind him me of the last fight.
Murata brushed him aside and just DESTROYED him the way a legit champ should.
Murata is LEGIT and EXCITING.
It was one of those fights where even if you were rooting for Brant, you have to stand up and acknowledge and give Murata his props.
The Olympic pedigree showed.
Glad to have him back.Comment
