That was a great fight...I think some of Brant's work didn't land clean/was on the gloves/partially blocked in the first round...but he could have still gotten it off of activity and some work was clearly good...but Murata landed some good shots to the body towards the end of the round that Brant clearly felt...and at the start of round 2 Brant was just throwing little pitty pat shots.
Murata just walked through him at that point...great fight by Murata and great comeback...he seems to really improve in rematches.
Sidenote - this is why Canelo/GGG is appealing to me...in rematches guys tend to open up more as they know what the other guy has...we could get a similar fight/action in that fight if GGG/Canelo do it againComment

This is how Ryota Murata expected the first fight to go. The 2012 Olympic Gold Medalist from Japan managed to get it right the second time around, avenging a title-losing effort to Rob Brant with a 2nd round stoppage in their ESPN+ streamed rematch Friday evening at EDION Arena in Osaka, Japan.
Murata floored Brant midway through a dominant round two before closing the show at 2:34 of the same round to reclaim the secondary title he conceded just nine months ago.

Well that didn't go as I expected! And that was the furthest thing from say Akavov's late "stoppage" at the hands of Andrade...that was unassailable, with Brant jelly-kneed and unresponsive after being given every opportunity to respond. Interesting how both Brant and now Murata came just shy of established records, via total punches and power punches in a single round respectively, in these two fights. Full credit to Murata here.Comment
