If Andrade beats Canelo, he’ll only be the WBA, IBF and WBO Champion.
It’s not an undisputed fight, so Andrade really has been screwed by the WBC because that’s the only reason they would consider the fightComment

Canelo is the highest ranked WBC middleweight
so, whether you and I like it or not..... the world will accept Canelo as the undisputed middleweight champion of the world
I actually agree with you, for the same reason..... if he goes for Andrade, to become undisputed..... then Charlo becomes a must-fight opponent, because he disputes it
also..... not a huge Charlo fan, and I get his lack of credible wins at 160, but he has been waiting..... and waiting..... and waiting..... that would be a good fight, and would literally clean out 160
but yea, Canelo will be regarded by the media/fans as the undisputed lineal middleweight champion of the world, if he beats Andrade..... just like the media/fans accepted that Golovkin drew the middleweight defence record with Hopkins..... despite Gennady only defending a WBA junior title, a lower sub-title that did not even exist back when Hopkins was doing his thing
everyone loves a cool story bro..... so it will happenComment

This would not be a case of boxing finally matching the 2 best in a division to finally settle who is best, in fact far from it. All this fake moral outrage about putting a paper champ against a guy who most thought lost his last fight to Golovkin is pathetic. The OP’s cartoonish hatred of Golovkin, the guy most see as the middleweight champ still, is the only reason for this thread. It’s the only reason for 90% of the OP’s threads.
The people’s undisputed champion would be between Canelo and Golovkin, if a clear win were had he would stand at the top of the division.
In this case DAZN just wants what the fans want.Comment

my humble opinion is.....
would beating Andrade make Canelo the undisputed middleweight champ?
technically, no..... the WBC actually screwed Canelo with that franchise silliness, Charlo is now the WBC champ.....
realistically, yes..... Canelo is the highest ranked WBC middleweight..... he is a much better fighter than Charlo..... and he is much more worthy of the title 'WBC champion'
Canelo won his title off Golovkin, what has Charlo done at 160?
from the other thread.....
great point
hmm.....
my thoughts on that.....
Andrade cannot become undisputed, so..... I have to agree with you, that fight is not for the Undisputed title.....
great point
but, Canelo would hold all of the belts, including the WBC..... and he is the highest ranked WBC middleweight
he is also clearly a better fighter than Charlo, and more worthy of the title 'WBC Champion'
my guess is.....
you are 100% correct, but according to media/fans Canelo will become the Undisputed middleweight champion.... because the media/fans love cool stories, and because Canelo will be the highest ranked WBC middleweight
just like they accepted Golovkin equaling Hopkins record for middleweight defences, despite Golovkin only defending a junior WBA title that did not exist back when Hopkins was doing his thing
personally, I don't care if they do hail Canelo as the Undisputed middleweight champion..... but the WBC really did Canelo no favors with that 'Franchise Champion' ******ity
because if Canelo beats Andrade, Charlo really becomes a must-fight opponent for Canelo imho..... considering the fact that Charlo is now a full champion according to the WBC, despite him not actually doing anything
Canelo should fight Charlo..... he should have to, and he should want to..... and it could be a real good fight
great point
also.....
to be honest, it is a two-sided question
phenom is right..... technically, Canelo will not become Undisputed by beating Andrade..... simply because, Andrade cannot become Undisputed by beating Canelo
so it makes no sense at all
but what does make perfect sense, is dropping the word "technically" from the sentence above..... because anything that follows the word "technically" is usually bullshlt.....and replacing it with the word "realistically"
realistically, Canelo is the highest ranked WBC middleweight..... he is a much better fighter than Charlo..... and he is much more worthy of the title WBC champion
but imho, forget the titles and all that bullshlt..... Canelo would need to fight Charlo because he would be the last remaining threat at 160
no big deal if that fight doesn't happen..... but that could be the best remaining fight left on the table, I have no problem with it
I had no idea the subject was being so widely debated
someone should make a pollComment

Where is the evidence that DAZN refuse to approve Andrade for Canelo and will only approve GGG or Kovalev?
How do you know that DAZN would not approve Andrade if Canelo was willing to fight him?Comment

So if Canelo is still recognised as the WBC champion, that means Andrade - or whoever - would need to beat two different men to become WBC champ himself, which is an absurd idea.Last edited by kafkod; 07-10-2019, 03:44 PM.Comment

one of DAZN first acts since joining the boxing fraternity.....
refuse to approve a world title fight that would determine the undisputed unified middleweight champion of the world
that fight is right there, DAZN has both fighters..... but, DAZN would not " approve " the matchup
thanks DAZN, keep up the good workComment

And that's exactly what happened. Canelo's the WBC's golden child, so they did this smoke-and-mirrors franchise champion nonsense intentionally to create confusion and make it look like he wasn't simply stripped because he had no plans to fight Charlo, but that's how it went.
Canelo has no mandatory, the belt they gave him has no weight class, and he can't even lose the belt to fighter that beats him. The media has not bought into this story, and writers like Mannix and Rafael have been quick to point out that this new thing is not a credible title and that Canelo was stripped because he isn't fighting Charlo.
He's not undisputed as long as Charlo is the WBC champ.Comment
