Because Kovalev is old, nearing the end of his career so Canelo thinks he can entice with money to starve himself and become another walking punchbag.

No way Canelo is fighting any of these big guys without catchweight's and re-hydration clauses.

Main events Kathy Duva is the one who approached Gbp
I read it somewhere just don’t recall where
Kov would be a fool to take fight with multiple catches
Canelo now entertaining the idea , see how far he can go with his demands
But if Kov needs the coin , or the coin is too damn good to walk away , well that’s on him

Canelo avoids real, prime time champions. No way on GOD's green earth would Canelo face a Lion like Anthony Yarde, we all know he been avoiding Andrade and Charlo. Now all of a sudden this cheap move of "Franchise Champion", what nonsense man.
Just watch, in about another year or so, there may even be a lame GGG trilogy, by then, GGG might be boxing with a cane man and the media will be hyping it up as if it were some mega fight.
Lara was his only real test. At 155 tho. And GGG rematch (for the first one he was drugged up).

Other than that he never did anything great.

When Kovalev's name was thrown around as a possibility a couple months ago everyone said Canelo isn't serious there is no way he moves up to light heavy and fights a guy like Kovalev. He is too dangerous and Canelo is too small if he does he is taking a beating. Don't believe me take a look at some of these comments

Talk about anything boxing related here. Where the boxing discussion is always Non Stop!

Laughing at what some of the guys up in here were saying when Canelo said he wants to fight Kovalev

Now that it looks like can happen look how fast you guys moved the bar. Now Kovalev is a bum right? Now if he doesn't jump up 2 weights and fight so and so instead of Kovalev it don't mean nothing. The reason Kovalev name is in the running over other guys is because Kovalev is by far the biggest name, draw and most accomplished at 175 and a future HOFer. Saying well he is only 3-3 his last 6 fights is misleading because 2 of the loses was to Ward the number 1 P4P fighter in the world. The other loss he avenged. Ward is now retired and Kovalev has beaten every other fighter he has ever faced. I guarantee if Canelo fought someone else you idiots would be screaming those guys are unproven you see he is ducking Kovalev. With Ward who was the consensus top guy retiring there is no consensus top guy at Light Heavyweight but Kovalev is either number 1 or number 2 top rated Light Heavy champ in all rankings according to Ring Magazine, ESPN, Boxrec, etc

Jumping up 2 weight classes and beating the at worst 2nd best light heavyweight in the world is a accomplishment no matter how you guys try to frame it.

Kovalev would be ruined by a catchweight or rehydration clause, the others maybe not so much.

Because the other champs bring nothing to the table. Kovalev is much more widely known.

                    Pretty simple

To try to say Canelo is scared of the other guys is just ******

It’s bull**** if there’s a catchweight. Plain and simple.

why is Canelo ignoring Bivol? He’s a champ at 175 who offered to come down to 168.
