Yes and yes. I'm so sick to death of "A-side" rationalizations, as if the mere fact that it can be gotten away with and opposition will ultimately concede to the terms for the right number somehow serves as justification in of itself. Such a groveling fanboy mentality. I swear there is an entire subset of fanboy who gets off vicariously on the "flex" of A-side stipulations. "Yeah Canelo, make him your *****!" And spare me the tired Mayweather whataboutism...it was garbage when he did it as well. It's garbage when anyone pulls it...that's the whole point. Basically anyone who considers themselves a true fan of the sport (and not just fighters a, b, and c) should be vehemently opposed to this kind of thing, and instead you have a large swath of people who more or less celebrate it. It makes the favorite look even worse in the event of a loss (You couldn't pull it off even with the handicap?), forever opens the door for well-deserved doubt and skepticism in victory, and generally defeats the purpose of personal challenges for purposes of "greatness" and "legacy" entirely. It's a lose-lose, plain and simple.Last edited by Sweet Scions; 07-02-2019, 01:47 AM.Comment
