Why all the hate on GGG's resume?

No hate from me. Everybody loved GGG until 2nd canelo fight and everybody jumped off the GGG bandwagon and onto the already full canelo camperComment

Got ya...I would just say that I don't actively score fights based on 'expectations'...I do think that matters in a way when evaluating a fighter and his level though...how well does he do relative to expectations.TS don’t forget that most experts picked GGG in the first fight to completely destroy canelo who was the smaller guy moving up almost all the so called experts had ggg ko or stoppage.
That didn’t happen and in the 2nd fight he got beat by the smaller guy. The Jacobs win is obviously his best win but alotta non biased fans had that fight a draw.
So the rest of his wins are pretty much c level victories.
But as far as scoring those 3 fights...I mean if GGG was getting outlanded like that in all 3 fights, in all those rounds...I mean I would have scored those for his opponent all day...not really sure how he can get a lot of flack for those fights...or how people can say that boxing wise he was shown up lol...I just didn't see that...Jacobs and Canelo had good moments though for sure...bound to happen when a fight goes 12.
I would say most of his 15 or so KOs were B level, with some C level and maybe Murray A level. But thanks for your thoughts/post.Comment

Fair point...but I think the Vanes situation was a little tricky and Rolls was a tune up after a layoff after a big fight...but fair point...just think if that's the worst people can hate on, it's not that bad lol
Good points....I would argue that he was still clear and decisive against Canelo both times...but the official results say different...it is what it is...just when I evaluate him I thought he won those so I have to credit him for them when looking at his career/resume.Lots of nuanced responses here lol.
Golovkin's prime years are missing signature wins. Had he beaten Sturm, Maravilla, Saunders and Canelo we wouldn't be having this conversation.
Unfortunately for him, none of them fancied it and no one remembers.
His detractors will also claim he avoided Lara and Ward.Comment

Lol...I mean 3 names out of 20 good fights...and Wade-mando...Rolls-pretty sh.it fight/tune up, but not as bad as made out to be...he is ranked 8 in IBO and 15 in WBC...Brook wasn't that bad...if he decided to box and move more instead of engage with GGG he probably could have lasted longer and maybe took quite a few rounds...also Brook came in late notice when Eubank backed out.
But yeah definitely not the 3 top guys in his resume...I don't rate Wade at all in those 15 KOs I mentioned...Brook is solid enough but coming up 2 divisions it's not an ideal win...Rolls was OK but not ideal either...maybe his 13th best win or so...not bad for a 13th best winComment

Good points...That's not for the want of trying though is it? We've all seen the freeze out games they've been playing over there. Crawford's first fight was against a champion and the other guys refused to fight him.
Canelo's fight prior to Golovkin was at 164. Prior to Smith he'd been campaigning as a middleweight champion. I'm sorry but you can't hide behind being a smaller guy while holding the title. Either you're the champion or you're not. Canelo decided he wasn't when Golovkin came knocking.Comment

I too had Golovkin winning those fights but I don't have the energy for that can of worms lol. As you say, it what it is.Fair point...but I think the Vanes situation was a little tricky and Rolls was a tune up after a layoff after a big fight...but fair point...just think if that's the worst people can hate on, it's not that bad lol

What do you make of the Lara and Ward situations?Comment
