Anthony Joshua vs Andy Ruiz Jr Does 403,000 UK Buys

The numbers aren't bad for anyone else besides AJ. These numbers dont match his hype. They should be in the 700k range according to his hype. he's bigger than Hatton but not bigger than Floyd so I wouldn't expect those numbers but I would expect him to do more than half the Hatton/Floyd fight not less than half.
But the craziest part is more people bought the PPV than watched him on DAZNComment

I'd argue he's STILL unrivaled. Look at the B sides of these fights. They were all HUGE fights or HUGE UK draws in HUGE fights. Joshua fought f#cking Andy "Who Dat" Ruiz. You aren't taking that into account.
AT UK FRIENDLY TIMES. If he was fighting Ruiz in the UK or simply at a UK friendly time I'd bet he'd legit done the 800k you say you were expected. He did over 1.5 vs Klitshcko and then damn near matched that number vs Parker. Joshua is insanely huge in the UK. Though I should have taken into consideration the Takam figure beforehand as that one failed to do 900k buys and like Ruiz, he was a replacement.
This is looney tunes sh^t some of you guys acting like this is a bad outcome in a bs fight & it being the 7th biggest 3am fight of all time.Comment

Neither Sky nor BT ever release numbers themselves. The Sky numbers come from BARB - Broadcasters Audience Research Board.
BARB don't give separate numbers for BT Sports PPVs. I'm not sure why, but maybe they are hidden in the total number of BT viewers for that week. Sky Box Office is a separate Sky Channel that they open up for one event only.Last edited by kafkod; 06-19-2019, 01:05 PM.Comment

And that fight was in the UK during a UK friendly time so its a apples to oranges comparison.
This was a US fight that was also UK PPV at a very unfriendly PPV time.Comment

Okay, to your last point, I never said it was a bad outcome. Just severely off of MY prediction.I'd argue he's STILL unrivaled. Look at the B sides of these fights. Joshua has done numbers in the UK no one else has. No doubt he is unrivaled. But that's the reasoning I was using to think he was still going to do HIGH numbers. But the opponent not being seen as a threat didn't help matters no doubt.
If he was fighting Ruiz in the UK, I'd still say it hits the million mark or gets close to it.Comment

That's what I figured. Thanks!Neither Sky nor BT ever release numbers themselves. The Sky numbers come from BARB - Broadcasters Audience Research Board.

Talking Usyk/Bellew? I don't think he was comparing that fight to the Joshua/Ruiz fight, just pointing out that was another figure released by BARB.Comment
