I've got no problem with Fury or any fighter taking a light tune-up fight from time to time. The ESPN deal, sure he deserves that too.

The only problem is what he's doing/saying out of the ring. He and Wilder both portrayed like they would have an immediate rematch. Boxing world was stoked, then kinda got bamboozled.
If you do happen to line up a "soft touch", how in God's name do you go about trashing and maligning others for taking a soft touch bout, weeks and days before YOU are about to do the very same thing ?
That's the only issue, for me. GGG did the same thing. Day before (give or take) he fights Steve Rolls, he was telling a microphone how horrible the sport of boxing has become because fighters no longer seek to "fight the best".
    What the heck ?
It's not my practice to slander fighters or engage in any "fandom" talk whatsoever. My post history is evidence. I'm all for Fury, but a lot of what he reportedly says, is rather questionable. That's all.

    • WBC is the MOST corrupt sanctioning body, nobody disputes that. Dillion Wyhte has been Wilder's mandatory for TWO YEARS and STILL they let Wilder fight whomever he wants. Seriously, what's that tell you?

There is a good reason why WBC is regarded as the most prestigious amongst the sanctioning bodies and why neutral ones - Ring and TBRB and BoxRec - gained more popularity amongst fans.

You do know that Shelly Finkel is also all in on Wilder fighting two cans prior to the rematch. You know they both agreed to another easy touch and then rematch next year right? Just sayn, you knew that right?

        • So Schwarz's was ranked higher than Fury with the WBO before the fight, sounds about right.

Luis Ortiz is an easy touch?

You referring to Breazeale and Ortiz ? Well, I'm not exactly sure we're including them in with Steve Rolls and Tom Schwartz, are we ?
But errr, even so, what if they were, or Wilder did have 2 guys out of the Top 10 lined up ? What's that saying ? That Wilder's doing the same thing a lot of these guys are doing ?

Like I said, I don't care who it is. I'm not in anybody's camp or prescribing to any particular fandom, other than the sport of boxing. If Wilder is fighting a no-name, and the week of that fight he starts bashing other guys for fighting no-names, than he's as guilty as any other.
Same with the Fury rematch. If his camp bears responsibility for that rematch not happening right away, then he equally bamboozled me.
I'm an equal opportunity 'blamer'. I don't usually take sides or promote one over the other. Sometimes, but not usually.
So is that what you were getting at, that Wilder and them are just as guilty of it ?

It looks like the majority of people put the onus on Fury for the rematch not happening. I'm not really into that, "He's ducking and he's scared, and all that ish anyway. I just know they acted like it was gonna happen directly, then it didn't, then we had to listen to all the posturing and BS, and I was bit disappointed.

At this point, I'm just tired of all the nonsense. If you wanna fight a tomato can, just own it. Don't go on about this guy, that guy and the other, not fighting anybody, and here you are in three days, FIGHTING A TOMATO CAN.

Ya know what I mean ? If this had been a thread about Wilder at an earlier part of his career, I might be leading with him. Just so happens he has stepped up the competition a bit finally, after 35 fights or whatever.

That's what I said..."You're including Breazeale and Ortiz in with Steve Rolls and Tom Schwartz ?"

Doesn't matter anyway. Bottom line is, the best are NOT fighting the best in the HW division. And then guys complain about it, whilst the same week THEY are fighting a #79 in the world.

It's silly. If you wanna take on a tomato can opponent, fine go ahead and own it. Just don't pretend like you are fighting Superman while so and so is ruining the sport, fighting Homer from The Simpsons.

And I'm not about, "Oh it's THIS guy that's doing it, so he's a bum and this n that." It doesn't matter who it is, if the shoe fits than it is what it is. We see who the culprits are when they do the interviews or whatever.

Agreed but Wilder and Fury have already signed a contract for next year, after Wilder rematches Ortiz, which is a good fight too. Joshua and Ruiz are up again in a few months, with only Fury maybe being the guy to have the second tune-up. We're at least at a point where the top guys are starting to collide. It's really only Joshua who needs to mix it up with the others, but he has Ruiz to deal with now.

Schwarz looked game and came to fight and was unbeaten, however Fury was just levels above him, it is what it is.

Remove Fury's name from Wilder's resume and who's he fought? A 50yr old asthma sufferer.
Chisora is fine. A legit fighter. He was also back in freaking 2014 for Fury. Come on now. Context of what I wrote is everything if you are responding to what I wrote, and I am speaking of who he has chosen to fight since his return. In the last three years He has drawn to Wilder, and beat complete scrubs in Schwarz, Francesci Pianeta, and Sefer Seferi. I could look past one of those as a return fight from the demons Fury beat is 100% understandable. But which of those three names do you think will EVER be mentioned against a top opponent ever again? And to say "Schwarz was undefeated and came to fight" is like saying that 11 year old you pushed off the monkey bars on the playground said bad things about your Mom so he had it coming. Fury has ZERO business fighting him. None.

Also, I never defended Wilder's resume. But since you brought him up, in the same time frame Wilder has fought 1 scrub (this version of Steverne), 3 club level fighters (Gerald Washington, Chris Arreola, and Artur Spzilka) a borderline contender in Breazeale, and 2 legit top 5 HW's in Ortiz and Fury. Let us not forget Breazeale and Steverne were mandatories for some inane reason which are not Wilder's decision.

Which of those resumes are more legit??
