Manny Pacquiao got KTFO by Juan Manuel Marquez at age 33 & won 3 fights & was in the biggest PPV boxing match of all time vs Floyd Mayweather.

Oscar De La Hoya got KO'd by Bernard Hopkins at age 31, won a fight & was in the biggest PPV fight of all time at the time vs Floyd Mayweather.

Mike Tyson vs Evander Holyfield was supposed to happen in 1990 when Tyson woulda been 38-0 & Holyfield woulda been 24-0. Buster Douglas effed up that plan. They did fight 6 years later when Tyson had the 1 L to Buster & Holyfield had 3 including a KO L two fights prior to fighting Tyson . And guess what? It was the biggest PPV boxing match of all time at the time.

So this Joshua vs Wilder fight isn't necessarily not a big fight just cuz Joshua lost & it might still be a big fight if Wilder loses in the future too.

This generation of boxing "fans" ruin everything. When you have hardcore "fans" posting on social media saying AJ was "always a bum" and "would've lost to Wilder anyway" around a bunch of casual fans.

That's the problem here.

When a guy loses one fight, his career is "over". You're right, though, Mayweather/Pacquiao was still a big fight...mainly because they were both stars and people still wanted to see it happen.

On another note, boxing fans don't know what they want and end up accepting the fights being made. We as fans create issues, then complain about them over and over. I still wanna see AJ/Wilder, but it seems the negotiations will be a bit more even (as far as respect), but AJ will probably still be the a-side.

My biggest question is, had Wilder lost in that fashion, would AJ and Hearn have been so humble and understanding Wilder's situation? Probably not.

They would've probably said Wilder was asking for too much money and wasn't worth the hassle, but, now that it's AJ, they're going into damage control mode and are probably embarrassed.

Of course its been destroyed, your examples mean nothing because none of those fighters got 'exposed' per say, AJ was totally exposed as a manufactured hype job. there was no lucky punch KO involved, he was systematically battered and beaten up by a doughboy on late notice.

the 3 examples you use may work for the PPV buying masses but they don't really fly with the hardcore.

Difference is AJ was exposed, he's a manufactured superstar. He was the product of extremely calculated and careful match making. He's looking like the Ronda Rousey of the heavyweight division. Losses or no losses, everyone knows Pac and Oscar can box. They lost to ATGs not some fat midget nobody.
