Theyve been doing that forever. First seen Corrales doing that in the Castillo fight. Im sure its been done forever. Ref wasnt playing that chit and told him its time to fight, you dont get no extra break for spitting it out.

I thought the ref was gonna call it as soon as he got up and turned his back on him.

Yeah, he was definitely trying to get extra time and then thought the ref was gonna call time to put it back in and that's what led to the confusion with the fight being waved off

Right, I mean to me Joshua didn't quit but he was just done. It happens. He could have SERIOUSLY gotten hurt since his stamina was shot.

If you spit out your mouthpiece and turn your back on the ref during a count after being put on your ass multiple times, you're not looking to continue the fight.

Thank you sir. Someone who knows about this ****.

The ref handled it EXACTLY how it should have been handled. I even think he said “There’s no break, time to fight.” Or something of that nature. He was looking to delay the count, then delay the mouthpiece and the ref said not on my watch. Beautifully handled.

Not exactly a satisfactory ending. He's on his feet and got his hands up.

But the ref needs to make the call. He told him to come forward and Joshua was trying to buy time.

Let's be honest though, he needed a haymaker to land to be in with a shout. He was on shaky legs and couldn't get his breath.

It was just my immediate reaction watching live. I agree it could've just been gassing out.

I remember AJ did the same against Wlad, but at mid point in the round after being knocked down.

I would have been fine letting it continue though. Josh just would have been KD’d a fifth time.
You mean he walked to the corner and then faced the ref? Because that's what happened.

AJ was looking at the ref with a clear head. Yes he was tired, but you don't stop fights like this due to tiredness.

If this was Wilder in the UK getting stopped like that, every American would be screaming blue murder.
