They literally lost millions on the Breazeale fight. Wilder hasn’t proven that he can make money without Fury. That’s what this Ortiz PPV fight is supposed to determine... Can Wilder sell a PPV without a huge name opponent?

If Wilder loses to Fury in a rematch, and most say he already lost the first one, then a Joshua-Wilder fight loses it's allure. Then it's Fury vs Joshua that is the big fight. But these fights are in the distant future sadly.

If Wilder loses any fight he gets a rematch until he probably wins the belt back. All those fights are voluntary so the WBC would not do anything even if they want to.
