did lil g/lemiux make hbo any dough? don't think so...but I bet they did ok with ggg/canelo

what about Crawford ppvs? did they make TR and espn any dough? doubt it....but they'll look to make big money later on with Crawford

did ward/brand make hbo any money? nope..but they knew that kovalev/ward was behind it so they took their L to get that fight done...and even that fight did not make them any money and that was a great matchup!!

poor ratings for wilder/breazeale mean nothing...especially when wilders ko was the talk of sunday....so what a few hundred thousand didn't see it live...they saw it the next day when people were buzzing about it...

          Exactly.

Boxing's popularity is on the decline everywhere. ESPN had a recent PPV which tanked, DAZN had witnessed a steep decline in their ratings on Cinco de Mayo weekend with it's largest box office draw and now Saturday's numbers were down also.

Over time people's values and tastes change. They are in search of alternative types of entertainment when it comes to sports.

Also, when it comes to boxing both the timing and the opponent have to be right in order for a card to be successful.

Lastly, the sport of boxing was damaged once it moved from network television to premium cable television and now this new technology; Online video media streaming is threatening to destroy the sport of boxing for good; Especially in the states among the casual fan by taking it off linear television because the sport would cease to grow and expand.

so heres more honesty...DAZN isn't in the charity business.....and all you have to do is be worth x amount to one network...just like if you are a free agent in baseball, football, basketball or "futbol"...you only have to be worth x amount to one team to be worth it...some will claim someone was overpaid....other times people will claim it was a bargain rate....doesn't matter

DAZN felt wilder is worth something....a lot more than hearn did....and those numbers suggest people know who wilder is and he brings something to an AJ fight.....to suggest otherwise is being ignorant...but most hearn/aj nut guzzlers are ignorant....so it doesn't surprise me

wilders profile steadily builds each time out...even if his fight did subpar numbers he generated huge buzz with the KO...everyone was talking about it on sunday...people who don't even follow the sport were checking it out

              you are a dunce
That figure is what they believe the belt to be worth. There’s no way on gods green earth a 100million fighter is going to be on regular showtime. If you really believe that then you’re the dunce. If wilder didn’t have the belt do you think he’d be recieving the same offers?

dude they paid this guy a ton of money to keep him from moving to DAZN. 10 million bucks is a huge chunk, if not the majority of the boxing budget for purses for the entire year.

showtime boxing is on borrowed time. boxing will not be on premium cable in 2 years. we'll be paying 10 a month for streaming services, the way everything is going.

how did top rank do with the Crawford/postol ppv?

how about Crawford/khan? did espn make money?

LOL...you have no concept of anything

maybe showtime did take an L on this fight...so what? they wouldn't be the first and certainly not the last....whats important is that they still have wilder and if they end up with a piece of the AJ fight they will make money...and a fury fight too

companies take L's short term to make it long terms....but you have no concept of how anything works because you are a POS loser

wilder was trending all day sunday and people were watching and sharing the highlight reel ko all day...that's is good for wilder and anyone affiliated with him...but I wouldn't expect you to understand....you are a scrub
wilder previously trended koing stiverne in the rematch and dropping fury in the 12th round. What did that get him?

Ggg Lemieux had a total purse guarantee under 5 mil and was ppv. They did fine. I wouldn’t bring up ggg. He consistently got better ratings than wilder.

DAZN made an aggressive attempt to overpay wilder to secure his services. In order to keep him both Haymon and showtime dig into their respective pockets. When you from showtime paying $3 mil to wilder to having to pay almost 10 mil and Haymon paying almost 10 mil out of his own pocket u have a major problem.

Top rank shelled out 10.5 mil for Crawford khan but made over 6mil back on the ppv not counting U.K. tv etc their loss looks like peanuts compared to
                  Pbc and showtimes L’s

That's double what Showtime typically does. Too bad Wilder isn't fighting on FOX each time out. Premium cable and streaming services limit boxing's audience. Boxing belongs on FOX or ESPN at worst.

This a very good point. I would guess that in a 12 round fight peak views come in around the 5th or 6th. People barely had time to turn on their sets and the fight was over.

I don't know how someone can call themselves a fight fan and not want to watch a Wilder fight. I honestly don't. The Ortiz fight was awesome, vs Fury it was high drama to the end and now he destroys a top rated HW in less than a round. That's all good stuff bros.
