Jacobs won the vacant belt (never fighting a mandatory), after Golovkin won a just vacted belt (making only the mandatory defense against Dominic Wade).

Derevyanchenko was #1 conteder, lost a close fight for the vacated belt close, was still rated highly, and jumped through the IBF hoops again for a mandatory shot.

Were they surprised though? They were shttng on Golovkin going through this exact same thing a year.

The last IBF mandatory defense was against Dominic Wade three years ago.

The IBF has been long owed a mandatory defense, have again established their top challenger (I believe Derevyanchenko and Culcay were #1 and #2), and that challenger deserves a shot.

You do see the irony in this
What happened to do not pass go
He just beat the guy who got him their
Maybe I just wanna see Andrade vs Canelo but I still don’t find it right , if anything GGG should fight him and then the winner get a crack at the other winner

Dump the belt, keep the date (Mexican Independence Day), get money!

this is just another inexplicable IBF decision.....

                  but, I kinda like it.....

it means that Canelo will have to fight Andrade next

drop the September date, move it to Oct-Nov

If he wasn't Mexican, maybe? However, Oscar started something, Mayweather became ****** rich, and so...NO! Drop the belt, keep the date! If Andrade wants the fight, he better be ready in September, or it's option B (GGG), and option B brings in a lot more money than a WBO Belt!

That's the only way 97k can get a belt these days is when Canelo drops a belt.
