It's a cool thing to add to your resume and Canelo was making it happen fighting all the top guys and grabbing belts like phuking Thanos the moment he has the 4 belts he is trashing them anyway. But the IBF is trying to prevent there being a undisputed champ sucks as a fan of the sport. Part of me almost wants canelo to say well this is why boxing is a joke and throw the IBF away now and be like every other super star fighter who never cared about undisputed because the crooked belt orgs. Truth is Canelo is bigger then these belts this was just something he wanted to do since all the belts were with DAZN and it's a cool footnote to add to your legacy but it's not worth the headache or giving up millions of dollars if they truly think he's defending their trash belt in Aug. My preference for Canelo fight has always been Andrade but if undisputed is not on the line then that fight loses majorbluster and Canelo should just go full Floyd and Oscar who when they became the cash cow fought whoever they wanted and whoever the public demanded and said were the best fighters not who any belt orgs said to fight and could care less about throwing belts in the trash if they disagreed. Rather he just fight the best then jump through hoops and fight trash mandatory fights nobody wants to see just to keep a belt, if you doing that to grab a new belt that's one thing but phuk keeping a wack IBF and delaying better fights.Last edited by bigdunny1; 05-15-2019, 08:59 PM.Comment

That's the difference GGG is a fraud IBF tried to make him fight someone BETTER, Dervy was better then Vanes and look at him now without a belt still digging in the trash fighting Rolls. That's GGG legacy beating guys like Rolls, Vanes, homeboy on house arrest Wade and list goes on. Canelo fights the best we know Sept he is trying to fight a top guy but the IBF wants to strip him and make him fight someone WORST want him to fight a guy that just lost to the guy he beat. Canelo fans demand he keep up the high standard and keep fighting the best...GGG fans make excuses for the shyt low standard he already has and make excuses for him continuing ti fight trash like Rolls instead of fighting the best.Comment

My guess is cuz it was a vacant belt that Jacobs just won. Jacobs probably had to get permission to fight Canelo vs fight a mando himself or maybe they had to get a mando in place first idk.
I think the IBF gots some rules where you gotta fight a mando when a belts been vacant, maybe even 2 in a row or maybe thats another ABC Group rule, or something like that.
Don't matter who's got the belt now. I'd bet Team Canelo knew it was likely to be in the pipeline if not a definite thing upon fighting for the belt that he'd have to fight a mando for them.
I wouldn't be mad at Canelo dropping this belt over this fight. But I get that defeats the purpose of all these things he's been saying about wanting all the belts.
Personally I just don't see the upside with getting all these belts. Its a cool ass picture of you with all those belts d****d over you, but ultimately the guys who've had all the belts for long periods of time are in mando bs ass fight hell & hurt their overall value in the sport by not taking the fights people wanna see them in more often.
If mando fights were legit fights with legit deserving top guys every time out it wouldn't be a problem. But look at some of the bs mando's Klitschko had to have when he had all the HW belts for years. Look at most of these guys who got more than 1 belt.
The value is in your name not these cornball belts at some point. And Canelo is way past that point.
Maybe he just wants some easier bs mando fights doe who f#cking knows. Cash that DAZN money Canelo, but Imma be less interested in bs ass mando fights of Canelo's I know that much & I suspect the casuals will be even less interested than me.Comment

I don't think he plans on staying undisputed very long. Otherwise he would have to fight every 4 or 5 months with the majority of them being mandatories for the belts he holdsComment

In fairness to GGG on that one that was kinda a bs situation & I can't fault anyone, GGG included, for not wanting to fight a guy as good as Derevyanchenko (fwiw the guy don't suck, but he's just not mando title fight worthy) on short notice (4 wks iirc).
But I don't deny GGG has taken a gamble on his own likelihood of getting the 3rd Canelo fight now by not getting Derevyanchenko outta the way when he could of (even if he had to postpone the original fight date) or fight Charlo when that fight came up. Or even start calling out Andrade so he gots a piece of the 160lb title puzzle that gives him a more legit claim at deserving another fight beyond the closeness of the 1st two fights.
Its definitely a bad look for a guy who's getting a lot of sh^t for how he's handling a lot of things as of late thats unarguable.
Part of me thinks he's knows he's on fumes & is just trying to cash out with these lesser fights &/or can't get up for non-big fights anymore so wants easy fights or Canelo. I mean thinking about it when you are the #2 guy the only guy you wanna fight is the #1 guy who judges keep saying you didn't beat while the majority of the fans are telling you you won so that does compute to me from GGG's POV even if its not how fans are gonna look at it.Comment
