All of this can be averted if Canelo would fight for the undisputed Middleweight championship of the world against Demetrius Andrade for the WBO title. Now that would be a hotly contested and highly competitive fight. That's a 50/50 fight.

GGG had 2 options fight any of the better opponents including his mandatory who all said I have no problem stepping with short notice on your date. OR move his date 1 month and fight someone better. Kind of like he is fighting on June 8 (1 month later) and still in line to fight Canelo in sept. He chose to NOT move the date and not fight anyone with a pulse and EVEN after the IBF said we disapprove of the quality opponent Vanes is and we warn you that you will be stripped if you fight him.
