Comments Thread For: Canelo Alvarez is an Excellent Fighter... But Not The Best

You don’t have a problem with a dirty PEDs boxer who keeps edging decisions, but you have a problem with someone who lost a split decision fight in his second pro career, bboy you are tripping......... ROFLI would definitely take Canelo over Loma without question. I have a problem with a guy who only fought 14 times and actually lost 1 even being on the pound for pound list. To make matters worse, that loss was to Orlando Salido, who isn’t terrible but is certainly not an all time great. I will admit that Canelo was given a gift over Lara though.Comment

The problem is the writer exposed himself because for years he justified putting Manny Pacquiao #1 P4P and ahead of Floyd as fighter of the decade stating that undefeated winning by more dominating manner was meaningless because he said Manny was fighting better level of competition and that made up for losses, draws, and countless contraversal wins Pacquiao had. Just hear him say it your self
Now he is ripping up his own rules to find anyway to now take credit away from canelo. lol
The man clearly hates or has some agenda against black and mexican fighters. Used bogus reasoning to rob floyd of fighter of the decade and then flipped that and came up with a new way to try and take #1 P4P away from canelo who deserves that mantle more then any fighter todayLast edited by bigdunny1; 05-11-2019, 07:57 PM.Comment

Very well said. Never seen this level of hate against a fighter who took on and beat everyone he was supposed to. Gets accused of ducking, fights those fights and wins, then still gets criticized. Alvarez is p4p #1. I have Loma #2. Not many other fighters with their body of work. Stop hating. He SPECIFICALLY called out 160 bro. Not lightweight. That's the flaw in your logic.
At lightweight, speed and timing are your dominant traits. Your weaknesses are fighters who are durable and strong who don't fall for the okie doke.
At 154 and up, power and/or defense are your dominant traits. Your weaknesses are fighters that can time you and are faster than you.
When is the only time Canelo Alvarez has been even near beaten? When he got timed.
At 160, neither Loma or Crawford has the timing or speed to connect on Canelo.
nope
P4P is based on the latin Ceteris Paribus..... all things being equal
it is not about picking a weight, one that will obviously suit one fighter over another..... it is about both guys being naturally the same size, regardless as to the weight
the writer used middleweight as an example, but he could have just as easily used lightweight, welter, etc.....
pick a weight..... any weight, because it does not matter..... say, bantam..... and then imagine that fight happening if both guys were naturally 118
P4P is a matchup of styles
it would be VERY tough for Canelo, but there likely isn't too much in it truth be known
like I said last week..... the top 3 look to be a level above everyone else on that listComment

No, that's BS. You can't imagine a fighter who was naturally large to begin with fighting in extreme lower weight classes.nope

There's NO DAMN WAY you're picturing James Toney vs. Roy Jones at 135. Yet many people had both those guys P4P at one point. Why? The weight didn't matter. Resume mattered.Comment
