Its not a fine. The contract sets a price-per-lb over 170 in the second weigh-in, and Jacobs decided to pay it as per the terms of the contract. Only way he could break the contract is to refuse to pay the agreed amount for exceeding 170.Comment

because the penalty was written into the contract. Make weight or pay. He chose pay. Fk this self imposed stipulation Canelo wanted to add. If you say you're the best MW, prove it without needing handicaps.Comment

Salido case different as he missed the official weigh-in, weighing in 2 and a 1/4 pounds over the featherweight limit. That was a violation of the rules and he got stripped of his belt as a result.
Jacobs has a contractual stipulation added by the DLH side that requires a second weigh-in and that there be a price paid in the event that either fighter exceeds 170. Jacobs exceeded 170, and paid the price stipulated in the contract. Only cheating would be if Jacobs refused to honor the contract and not pay the agreed price for exceeding 170.
Again, the only break in contract is DLH publicising the results of the second (unofficial) weigh-in.

whose sanction? It's not an organizations fine. It's a self imposed fine as per golden boy and their pathetic attempt to gain an advantage. Everyone wants to ignore Canelo using clen to drain down to 155 and then walking into the ring 20 pounds more the next day vs smaller opponents but now that he won't have a weight advantage yall wanna cry. Foh. I don't remember Chavez, morales, Barrera, Marquez adding rehydration clauses to any of their fights ever. Stop lowering your standards as a Mexican boxing fan and call it out for what it is. A b***h move.Comment
