Andy Ruiz vs. Joshua rumored for June 1st

Ruiz arguably did no worse vs Parker than Joshua, so there's that anyway.
I think the only reason to even float Andy's name out there though is to shave a million or so off the offer to Hunter.

It's Hunter if Ortiz can't do it.

i thought it was Hunter for sure last week when they said the announcement would be today. But since the announcement has been delayed i think there is some truth to the rumor Ruiz is in talks. He just fought on TV & he's Mexican. I think they're looking at the Mexican fan base. A Mexican-American fighting for the HW championship of the world would get Mexican-Americans excited. And they would run the promos & cross promote with Canelo-Jacobs

I'm not sure how popular Ruiz is among the Mexican fans. Can they respect someone who looks like a slob even if he's Mexican? I'm not sure his appeal is very high.

Visually speaking, for the casual viewer who doesn't know Ruiz, if they see Joshua go out there and fight someone who looks like Ruiz and then blasts Ruiz (which is expected) he would get heavily criticized.

Plus, Ruiz looks like he doesn't even take boxing seriously. He reminds me of Joe Hipp, who was a damn good fighter, but it is what it is.

He is very Joe Hipp-ish. And I agree he doesn't seem to be the most serious or focused guy. I did think he did well in the Parker fight, but thats pretty much the only time I thought very highly of him. Every other fight he just did what he was supposed to do vs low level guys. I mean his best W is a toss up between the last guy who had one respectable W in the last 8 years & Tor f#cking Hammer.

Its sorta f#cked up he's even getting a title shot if he actual does get the call up with his current position. Fighting for a vacant belt vs Parker made sense at the time. But now he's done lil since the L & he's fighting the #1 guy for a belt this time, assuming he gets the fight obviously. Guy is failing upwards ffs.

But I guess all the sh^t gots to make sense & 6 weeks out lotsa sh^t doesn't have to make as much sense so it is what it is I suppose.

I'm sorta split on thinking Hearn loves Allen & has made him some sorta vanity project like he says or that he secretly hates Allen & is trying to get him severely injured or killed in a boxing match. I'm staying tuned either way, but I feel like this is a TV movie one day I'm just not sure of the end result.
