Should refs/boxing do away with making fighters walk around after a knockdown?

No its necessary to protect the fighter. It can appear unfair but better than the fighter ending up in a coma or worse.

That has nothing to do with checking to see if the fighter is okay. The ref is brushing off debris from the fighters gloves.

Interesting, I've seen them wipe them off, I guess I just always assumed they were evaluating responsiveness. Thanks for clarifying that for me.

No problem. Sometimes the ref will call it off at that point if he sees in the fighters eyes that he's gone, but yeah they're cleaning the gloves off. That's why they still do it after ruling it a slip.

You would see earlier stoppages or fatalities. A few seconds is a minor price to pay.

No stop crying Wilder loss that lets the ref know if the fighter can continue. If he walks straight he’s good if he stumbles it’s stopped. You people are a joke you cried when Meldrick Taylor was stopped but cry if Fury is allowed to walk can’t have it both ways

Only when it benefits the boxer I'm rooting for.

If a fighter isn't ok to continue after getting up, then he won't be able to understand and follow the refs instructions without wobbling or staggering and he won't get 4 or 5 extra seconds to recover.

As long as the same procedure is going to be used whichever fighter gets knocked down, then it's not a problem.
