He said June or July he is fighting. All that matters is keeping that mandatory at this point to fight the P4P best fighter right now. (I have Nelo at #1 P4P). I don't think it makes sense to play with weight classes going up & down.

Brandon Adams to reportedly face Charlo, not Golovkin

Well, this is confusing.

Despite World Boxing News reporting that Brandon Adams would welcome Gennady Golovkin to the DAZN airwaves on June 8th, ESPN claims that the “Contender” winner will instead face Jermall Charlo on Showtime one week later in Charlo’s hometown of Houston, Texas.

Adams (21-2, 13 KO) had received offers from both men. Charlo (28-0, 21 KO) is a lesser name while posing a similar amount of danger, but unlike Golovkin, he currently holds a title. We also don’t know the financial terms of the respective offers, so far be it from me to critique his choices.

Though this matchup is more palatable than Golovkin wasting a chunk of his career denouement, it’s still frustrating. Charlo had an extremely strong résumé at 154 pounds, most notably beating Austin Trout and Julian Williams, but has yet to face a top-notch middleweight during his three-fight tenure at 160. Adams is actually less of a threat on paper than Matt Korobov, whom Charlo barely edged on short notice last December.

At least things are looking up for Kamil Szeremeta.

Gennady Golovkin’s next fight will be on DAZN, but we don’t know whom he’ll fight. ESPN’s Dan Rafael claims, however, that the name “being bandied about the most” is reigning European middleweight champion Kamil Szeremeta, who is ranked one spot behind “GGG” by both the WBC and the WBA.

Poland’s Szeremeta (19-0, 4 KO) stopped Alessandro Goddi for the belt last year and successfully defended it twice, scoring a knockout of Ruben Diaz in September and a decision over Andrew Francillette this past Saturday. The 29-year-old also boasts wins over Patrick Mendy and Kassim Ouma, the former of whom upset Dmitrii Chudinov five months ago.

From a rankings perspective, the fight makes sense, and it’s unsurprising that DAZN would give Golovkin (38-1-1, 34 KO) something of a tune-up to end his layoff. It should be entertaining, at the very least, and leaves the fall/winter open for Canelo, Daniel Jacobs, or Demetrius Andrade.

Yeah, because facts are excuses now. The only one making excuses and being a deluded homer is you. Charlo wants nothing to do with the rematch. If he did, he'd make Al get the rematch on. Has he done this? No. He knows he got a gift.

A better prepared Korobov with a full training camp would make easier work of the hypejob Charlo. Both you and I know that. As does Charlo. Which is why, as I've said, he wants nothing to do with a rematch.
