To be fair, it does seem strange if a fight is only online and not on tv, but for the fighters and promoters, it's only about how much money is deposited in their bank accounts. Joshua and Canelo are only concerned about being paid, and Dazn has all this money, good for the boxers.Comment

Espinoza confirmed to them it’s in ball park of 14-15 mil guarantee and co promotion with wilder newly established bombsquadz promotion to bring him in more money he even lying or telling the truth will see once his purse is given to commission one thing Espinoza said that so far is true is that wilder newly made promotional company is copromoting.... you have a hard time believing anything that don’t fit your dazn/aj agenda it’s ok he took dazn offered and got a significant raise from showtime along with maintaining his independence from a long term network dealComment

Nobody had Netflix at one point of time. DAZN is still trying to build their brand and business. This will take anywhere from 3-10 years depending on what deals they can make.Comment

I know plenty of people use it before a Canelo fight. Depending on which cards each month. No different than paying for a Showtime subscription. Of course this coming from ol' Bob, he will trash anything he isn't getting a piece of.Comment

I dunno, I like DAZN. I like the app better than the ESPN+ app. I don't always get a chance to watch the fights live and when I went to watch the Pulev/Magdeleno fights the following day I was greeted with the results as I scrolled thru the ESPN app. I was pissed and didn't bother watching the fights since I knew the results.
As for Bob. He's an old man, anything new and foreign is viewed as a threat or not fully appreciated. He still believes in fleecing people with the PPV model. Like all of these promoters/advisors, his first priority is to make money off of us. I don't really care about one promotion or the next, I just want to see compelling fights and be entertained. Don't care if it's streaming or on regular TV.Comment

Bob Arum is more than open to Tyson Fury fighting Deontay Wilder next. The Hall-of-Fame promoter just needs to know how willing those that work with Deontay Wil
“That’s a fight that should happen,” Arum said, referring to the Wilder-Fury rematch. “But again, it’s not the end of the world. It has to happen and it has to happen on the terms that make sense for us, for the fighters, for ESPN. I mean, let’s be honest about it – Showtime did a very good job for boxing when it was Showtime and HBO. But this is past the era of Showtime and HBO. Showtime and HBO are great entertainment channels, but they play to a relatively small audience and an older audience.
“And therefore, their megaphones are not what a megaphone is for a sports network that programs on multiple channels 24 hours a day. Now, with ESPN being the megaphone, any pay-per-view fight worth its salt, like a Fury-Wilder fight, will out-perform anything that they had before. This is a different, different era that we’re getting into, and we’re not playing around with the old way things were done.”
Arum is also a hypocrite because one of the biggest players responsible for Boxing moving from decades of history being on Network TV to fighting in smaller audiences on Cable Premium Channels is....Bob Arum. He moved his fighters and companies off of Network TV because the Cable Premium Channels were new and paid him and his promoters MORE money and Networks couldn't compete. He then moved fighters off of Cable Premium for PPVs many trash fights that had on business on PPV simply because Cable couldn't afford to pay him what he wanted so those fighters went and fought in even smaller audiences on PPV. No example better then forcing Crawford/Postol on PPV that did less then 60K buys. And is putting Crawford/Khan on PPV which will do horrific PPV buys and is a trash fight because ESPN and ESPN+ can't and won't pay what he wants to keep Crawford happy. No different then what he is criticizing with Joshua. Fury's next fight could be showcased with a bigger audience on ESPN yet the fight will air on ESPN+ a app just like DAZN because they don't have the money to pay Fury to fight on regular ESPN. So Arum is all about getting the most money for himself at the expense of limiting overall exposure but has the nerve to complain about Joshua getting 30M to fight on DAZN? Shut the phuk up old hypocrite mad because other fighters aren't signing with you and getting paid more by other networks/apps.Last edited by bigdunny1; 03-26-2019, 04:22 PM.Comment
